I'm pretty sure Ifrit was an Uematsu track. It's so basic and now actually feels like the odd one out (lack of non-choir vocals and actual lyrics, I suppose). I actually had a hard time recognizing that they were indeed playing a rendition of Ifrit's theme when the Primals first opened with it.
The Ascian getups on stage with the theme got me so fucking hype.
Honestly... that concert completely made the Fan Fest for me and justified the amount of money I spent that weekend. There's nothing like seeing a Japanese metal band cover video game music. I was also up there yelling LEVIATHAN. LEVIATHAN. I was enjoy. I will see all you nerds next year, I'm certain.
The preview we heard of the Shiva theme only comes up on the last phase (Yoshida mentioned this on the Live Letter). Remains to be seen (heard?) how the music from the earlier phase will match it. Looking forward to it though!
For me though:
1. Ultima Weapon (It's kinda like a primal)
2. Garuda
3. Ramuh
4. Titan
5. Leviathan
6. Ifrit
7. Moggle Mog
Maybe I missed it, but does anyone know where did Koji's Garuda opening blurb came from, or did he just maybe cook that up and thought it fit well?
I may be completely mistaken, but is it in there, just really hushed during the intro?
Yoshi said that maybe every year wouldn't be feasible since he's not going to release an expansion every year. Maybe every other year he said. Also now they'll have to consider FanFests for China & Korea. Who knows how that'll affect plans.
His blurb was rather unique and deviated from the actual lyrics afaik
Are the only lyrics present in the game version of the song (as released by SE themselves during 1.0)Now fall...
Falling too far from the light
Deeper into the night
Lost here inside my own hell
I am a broken angel
It's not in the original. The blurb was added for The Primals version of the song. For flair I guess.
Here are the lyrics Koji did for Garuda
the sun sets and dark wings embrace a bloody moon
the screams of a thousand thousand souls on their knees
pleading for pleasure for pain
down from the mountains of madness
and into the heart of an endless storm
an ill wind blows
an ancient evil rises
hahahaha
for me
1) Ramuh
2) Garuda
3) Shiva
4) Moogle
5) Leviathan
6) Titan
7) Ifrit
I think that's pretty bad reasoning for not doing a yearly fan fest, especially when we didn't get too much new information about the expansion, a problem with splitting up Fan Fest into three locations. Most of the information we received was artwork and confirmations of things we already knew. They didn't show us any new gameplay for the expansion and hardly elaborated on how some of the new mechanics would work. They could just as easily hold a Fan Fest next year and release important information about an upcoming patch.
I could be wrong, but I believe a lot of people went to Fan Fest to meet up with other fans of the game and people they play with. Sure, some people wouldn't return each year with little new info, but I believe they could still make it worthwhile and fun for those who would like to attend.
They are planning on making it a yearly event, at least that is what one of the event organizers said when I spoke with him. I had met him in March and when I saw him on my way to wait for the mixer I forgot that I'm introverted and greeted him more friendly than I normally would. They (of course) were very stressed about all the snafus from that day, so I comiserated and said that at least next year would be smoother after asking if they were planning on doing it next year. He sounded genuine in saying so![]()
Honestly we don't need an announcement to make Fan Fest awesome. I just wanna meet up with some nerds, stand in lines, and kill things.
@Rocl
The guy who said "too easy that a toddler can do it" was the guy who sat next to me playing as BLM. Not sure why he said that though but I guess the rush of just winning he was trying to be funny on camera, didn't work too well I suppose, but the editing didn't chop it off so ...
I'm the Chinese guy, the other guy with a beard was my RL friend that went with me:
(video might get taken down fast, apparently that's what happening to other vids. But I made it unlisted-- was circulating it to a few friends/family. still feels good!)

This sums up why I had so much fun! Yeh listening to people talk about the game using mmo terminology was great.![]()
they can make china fanfest keynote starting with
"MORE RARE AND BUYABLE MASTER 10 STAR GEARS/WEAPONS WITH GIL ONLY"
crowd will go exploding
GIL TO WIN
dont even need to announce anything about 3.0
@Stig im glad you arent that rude girl that pwned the commentator...
