where the fuck were these teachers when i was in hs? srsly.
Age of consent in LA is 17. It'd be interesting to see what ends up happening to them.
Its still a crime, I assure you. A dude could be held back and still be in HS at 19 and it would still be a crime. Its not the usual simple matter of are you corrupting a minor or not, when its teacher-student its that you have a position of influence over someone considered vulnerable
The official term is position of trust it appears, apologies - couldn't remember the exact verbiage in my initial post. This was covered heavily during my teacher education in college.
The minor details vary by area to area, but generally speaking you can't have sex with a student you're in a position of trust for, even if they meet the typical statutory age.

Wait, you're a teacher? Did not see that one coming.
As an education student, I can confirm this is true. I really don't get it, personally. I'm doing my first practicum right now and I can't even understand it. The kids are so young. There's nothing sexually appealing about that at all. The only thing I can think is that maybe these teachers aren't that old and that's why it doesn't seem wrong to them to be hitting up these underage boys. I'm 33 and the thought of getting with someone under the age of 30 quite frankly churns my stomach.
Yes, I'm a licensed PA teacher although I ended up finding employment elsewhere while log jammed in the overcrowded PA teacher job market and I've been quite successful so far outside the field so its unlikely I'll go back in time for my license to renew automatically (5 years without teaching = license lost) but I did initially go for Social Studies education. When I was student teaching a 9th grade girl wrote me like a 2 page letter, front and back of both pages, about how much she was into me and I skimmed through the first 3 paragraphs and wanted to vomit and handed it to my hosting supervisory teacher without reading the rest.
Dont discourage me, the chick I've been flirting with a lot lately is 32 with an out-of-town traveling 47 year old boyfriend. I'm quite confident she may very well monkey branch with how hes always gone. And how hes like twice my age (I'm 26)I'm 33 and the thought of getting with someone under the age of 30 quite frankly churns my stomach.
I don't think the age thing is much of a factor for other people. My personal preference is to not date people who are younger than I am, which hasn't been an issue at the moment, since I've been seeing someone for the past two years.
Social Studies is one of the most saturated fields for teaching. I'm going for English and that will also be up there in terms of finding employment. I've heard teachers in PA don't make a lot, then again, the cost of living up there is a lot less than down here, one of the few things I miss. My boyfriend told me to teach math or science for job prospects, but neither of those things interest me very much, and if you want kids to care, you have to care. And if I really had my way, I'd be teaching art or dance, but employability in those fields is terrible.
The plus side to English ed is that I will get an ESOL endorsement and be able to teach anywhere in the world if I choose. It affords me a flexibility I never had before.
And since this is the pic thread, here's a bunch of fun hockey F-bomb gifs.

I can't take it anymore. If you don't get FFXV for this reason I don't know what else to tell you.
