It's funny particularly if you enjoy sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Jokes like "reserving Friday nights for the foreseeable future because firefly is going to be on TV for years" is a joke that people won't get if they don't understand Firefly was only on TV for 13 episodes.

BBT isn't a terrible show, it's kinda cute. I mean, it's generic sitcom but with "nerds" instead of the fat guy/out of league wife thing. I don't mind watching BBT, it get a chuckle occasionally. I only watch it when I hang out with a friend, so there's that lol. The Sheldon memes are kinda funny, but my sense of humor is bad, so I guess that makes sense.

The problem with the show is that it's a show about laughing at nerds, not laughing with nerds. Yeah, it has references up the wazoo, but so does Family Guy, and we all know how horrible that show is. If you want actual nerd comedy, try Silicon Valley.

To be fair, that's the climax (heh) of the series and easily the funniest part, but the rest is pretty good.
