It was a 2008 Chevy Silverado, making it that much more impressive. The guy who actually took the picture asked the guy "Can I take your picture?" He was calm enough to agree, and while he basically couldn't move, he wasn't in much pain.

That area of I-84 in eastern Oregon is just a bizarre road to drive. It's 100 miles of flat nothing, followed by 20 or so miles of the steepest grade of winding freeway I've ever been on, followed by another 100 miles of flat nothing.

About like US-395 south of Alturas. There's nothing but rocks, then suddenly a twisty pass, and right back to rocks.

OR-58 into Eugene at 2am is nuts too. I informed my compatriot that if he said the 'D' word I would be slamming on the brakes instantly. We'd seen two and a half deer along the way already.

Try 100 miles of flat nothing, 80 miles of ridiculous winding 6% + grade, 200 miles of nothing, 80 miles of rain through the Gorge.

Fuck I-84. Use Lombard or Columbia and go down Interstate from there. Even with Lightrail, that is still better than the Lloyd District in the morning.

If you go west out of Pittsburgh you're entering Ohio and 200 miles of flat nothingness. If you go East out of Pittsburgh you're entering 200 miles of winding up & down mountains and tunnels.
