Just watch an episode or two of any season of The Biggest Loser. Most of the stories of how they got fat are the same: just stopped taking care of themselves.

Some of those chicks I would not call fat. Definitely overweight. I don't know, some of those chicks are just thick. Although yes, some are very fat.

Also, once you leave high school (for some it's college, but college doesn't make you take phys ed) it's really easy to stop being active, not to mention being on your own and not having your parents to feed you anymore, you tend to gravitate toward foods that are easy to prepare but terrible for you. I never learned how to cook and I struggle with eating right every day, and yes, I am definitely overweight, and I really stopped being active after I left the military. And having kids didn't help either.

How I love my genes. First year university my diet consisted of fast food and a 12pack of Pepsi/Coke everyday. Didn't get much sleep (class material and WoW).

Thick is fat. Some extra pounds shouldn't be a problem in a marriage, but we are talking like 10-15, MAYBE 20 gained. Those pictures show them putting on 50-100 pounds. They can love the diabetes and high blood pressure to go along with it. Not to mention the medical bills and shorter life span.

I absolutely agree that gaining 50+ pounds over a short period time is problematic and completely unhealthy. I'd just say that not all of the women in that thing are necessarily fat. That's all. I'll even go on record and say that I am fat and not thick. I am bigger than some of those women.

But seriously, the second chick on the page isn't even fat in her "after" pic. She definitely put on pounds and yes I see some tummy, but damn, she ain't fat.

I guess I'll just never understand how people "let themselves go." If you are suffering from mental illness/depression, sure, your brain chemistry is fucked up and exercise is the least of your concerns. But for the majority of those, how do you not look at yourself in the mirror eventually and say "wow, I need to do something about this."

Simple laziness. I look in the mirror sometimes and I'm like, "ugh, gross," but then I sit my ass back down in front of Netflix. Or when I do motivate myself to work out, I get discouraged because I'm not as fit as I used to be, everything hurts and I can barely breathe, which just makes me want to quit. It's a cycle that perpetuates itself.
