Yesterday spawned like one min after I fished up a Glimmerscale. Fished up two so far today and it hasn't popped, so it must have some kind of internal timer, or possibly have to fish up a certain number. Some of the other gathering ones seem to have a short timer - we popped North Shroud twice yesterday.

Seems like we had something right, we were just off by 1 night for New Moon. Hah.

Seems force pop on new moon regardless of anything else.

Mindflayer popped and killed on Odin just now.

Dead on Excal. It popped on the second night of the new moon around 1AM. Stuff we did:

-Popped the guildleve that mentions the Lambs of Dalamud on night two.
-Killed humanoid mobs and humanoid FATEs (both nights).
-Killed Revenants (both nights).
-Killed ourselves, mostly as fishers and BLMs (BLMs on night two). We stayed dead for a few mins instead of HPing immediately.

Hidden away in the Black Shroud, the remnants of the cult "The Final Gathering [Lambs of Dalamud]" seem to have made a sordid contract with the mysterious "Mindflayer".

Skipping the lines that are the same about it eats brains and is a major fiend, we then get

English: "Most rumors are to be dismissed out of hand, yet this is not one of them. Moonless nights are when their rites grow the foulest. Only death and decay can chisel for them a foothold in this world."

On nights when the moonlight fails to reach us, it seems that offering up human corpses as sacrifice in a fiendish ritual is what calls the Mindflayer into this world.

the JP text pretty specifically states that humans are calling the mindflayer into the world through human sacrifice, but whether they need adventurers to "help them along" in their ritual remains to be confirmed

So Brontes seems to be the only one left for most servers. My friend has been making Crown Pies at the Rat's Nest like that one poster mentioned but we got nothing so far.

Mindflayer just died on Siren, lightning weather ~7pm gametime. Noooo idea how it popped, it was there when I got there. We're a bit behind other servers huh?

Gilgamesh server seemingly has forced spawn. We've told friends on Fairy and believe it has been popped there too.

For the brontes it was both 2am in real life for me and also 2amish in game time. Also for the guy who was talking about the altar and the tree with the rope. The altar is in the north of brentbranch. its through a waterfall and there is a huge tree and altar in the middle. the rest is a glade. As for the tree with the rope, its near tam tara. it has a blue rope and is at the end of the left path! that is how we spawned it! we let someone get beat to death by mobs on the altar and then weeped at the tree. it spawned during the next rain.
