Look, it doesn't matter if you keep Jews in the desert for 40 years or 4 millennia, we're still gonna burn.

there’s a lot i could do with those last four words
Nothing others haven't already beaten you to.
tho funniest incident of colonialism has to remain British people landing in the Australian outback and thinking yes, my skin is prepared for this sun
at least my ancestors had the good sense to take their light brown skin to a light brown sun when they decided to displace and genocide the natives smh

Israel rescued 4 hostages! And all it cost was killing over 200 people and injuring hundreds more!

I'm actually surprised any hostages are still alive. Hamas refusing to release any hostages always seems to be the cock block on any cease fire talks, assumed it was because they were all already dead.
They also surely know that if they did release all the hostages then Israel would have a ton more pressure on it to actually do a ceasefire, which Hamas does not want.
How do you kill or injure almost 1000 people to rescue 4, that's video game shit.

Well if you read the story it's because Hamas opened fire on them in public areas, in addition to the hostages being kept in a building full of civilians and families (ie human shields)
The human shield tactic isn't too effective when the enemy refuses to recognize said shields as humans and considers those losses acceptable. Palestinian well-being isn't an Israeli prerogative; you can all hate Israel for that, but the reality is that they aren't beholden to Palestinians. So if Hamas won't make it a prerogative to reduce civilian casualties by ceding to Israeli demands, then the bloodshed will continue unabated.
This is what I meant when Palestinians pretty much have to give up political autonomy (insofar as Hamas represents that)
Sure but their behavior is imminently predictable via realism. Internally, individual actors within a state may have divergent interests and disagreements, but those in control of the state apparatus will reliably act in the interest of those that comprise the state over those who do not.
So given everything else we have established (that the LIO will never withdraw its backing of the Israeli state and that Hamas plays by the same rules), it seems fairly clear to be that the quickest and most efficient solution is the elimination of Hamas.
military aren't cops. the well-being of foreign civilians is like 10 levels below not being shot, regardless of what countries military you are talking about
when american soldiers are out and about in the world, and they're presented with armed threats, they aren't exactly showering foreign civilians with love and kisses either... they'll shower them with bullets if those civilians are anywhere close to those shooting at them
as said earlier, the actual problem is that this whole thing could have been avoided completely but both sides wanted this fight and as always civilians get caught in the cross-fire.
you can argue america has a hand in the blame too since they are the ones that presented the idf with the intel for this operation. everyone was fully aware how many civilians were in this refugee camp, and what would happen if they went in, but they gave the intel anyway
