When you colonize an area, make laws that blatantly discriminate against other ethnicities, violently force people out of their homes, and murder and oppress specific people. Then yeah, I would imagine worrying about your "security" after that is a top concern. Because terrorism is a symptom of oppression and when you run a modern day ghetto or simply put, the world's largest open air prison. Then yeah, people obviously would rather fight and die than accept such horseshit.

Yet here people sit arguing that Palestinians living in occupied Palestine are better off being subjugated and suppressed than have "limited sovereignty." Fucked up.

I mean you're right but frankly at this point it would be better for all of mankind if we just glassed the whole damn place into an inhabitable wasteland because mankind has shown time and time again it cannot exist on that land peacefully.

At the risk of going too hard ala r/atheism it’s especially maddening that the US and the world in general only cares because it is the “holy land”, there are war crimes and genocide and ethnic cleansing happening in many places around the globe that are heinous but its hardly a blip on the radar for most westerners. Given that, the best solution is non-violent integration and assimilation of the Palestinian peoples into the Israeli state. This would be preferable to continuing this cycle of violence.

It is so typical how you look at everything the imperial core and Israel has done to cause this and say: "Yeah, peace will only come when they get their way." Then again, you do side with oppression because you only care about getting yours and a means to an end.

also anecdotally, as most of u know i'm a grad student in the ol liberal af UC system and campus has been gettin WILD. posters for both sides going up and getting torn down, shouting matches on campus, reports of sustained harassment for those too outspoken on both sides. talked about with heat in every class. haven't seen a campus this divided since the height of Iraq. ugly atmosphere.

i'm the director of ops at multiple venues, and at our convention center we were hosting a New Democratic Party conference last weekend. over those three days we had 2 physical fights break out between delegates/party members fighting over the middle east, 2 large-scale protests; one of which was secretly let into the building by delegates/party members and ended up resulting in protestors getting physical with our security team and one security guard got his arm broken, RCMP/cops involved everywhere. shits been wild. my entire life for over a week has been nothing but security

Hamas spokesman being interviewed on Al Jazeera saying that they are better than ISIS because they are willing to release hostages. He also made the claim that the rest of the American hostages would be released if the airstrikes end and the ground invasion is called off. He was quite angry when called out for attacking the music festival saying that those people were pretty much fair game.

Israel has warned the Dar Al Shifa hospital to evacuate because they will be launching airstrikes nearby. That hospital is the main and biggest hospital in all of Gaza.

18 dead after Israel launches an airstrike near Gaza's oldest Christian church.

The Israeli military said that a blast Thursday night on the St. Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church campus in Gaza City was the result of its airstrike.

The blast resulted in the collapse of a building adjacent to the church where dozens of people were sheltering and killed two people. Hundreds were sheltering on the campus of the church. The Israeli military said a wall of a church in the area was damaged. “The incident is under review,” it said. The Patriarchate of Jerusalem didn't respond to request for comment Friday. On Thursday, it denounced the incident as an Israeli bombing.
