edit: 80 dead, hundreds injured according to hospital
To bomb a refugee camp once may be regarded as misfortune, to bomb a refugee camp twice looks like carelessness.

or intent
Both Hamas and Israel know exactly what they're doing. Israel doesn't care about the collateral damage from their strikes and Hamas will keep using them as human shields and could very well be forcing them to stay in the area.
according to the IDF, this wasn't exactly a bunch of tents and shit. this was a refugee camp from when the palestinians were displaced back in the day, and was composed of concrete apartment buildings and etc. i don't know its history well enough (or at all) to say one way or another.
not really any better, but how do you deal with an enemy that purposefully hides behind (or underneath) civilian infrastructure and who's stated purpose is to wipe you from existence? i dunno this is how i'd have done it, but it's what they went with.
probably not the same thing you've been doing for 55 years that has only created more enemies that want to wipe you from existence
Petraeus may have been loose with his dick but he taught this country that you can't kill your way out of an insurgency, a lesson many seem to have lost over the years
You politically make their lives better, and stop treating them like 2nd class citizens.
Or you send boots in there and raid and kill them, otherwise by the end of it you're worse than they are.

Saloo if you don't mind the askin what changed to make you critical of Israel and sympathetic towards the Pallies? i recall a few years ago your views seemed decidedly more pro-Israel. no hate 10 years ago i too was significantly more pro-Israel, just curious.
Let's say this immediately happens to the best extent possible - how then do you deal with Hamas given their tactics?
I am not countering your point whatsoever. I just genuinely have a lot of trouble with this. I don't really know how a hypothetical, benevolent and "right" Israel goes from that point.
we haven't exactly been great to our displaced folk either. or our immigrants. or refugees. and our blood enemies weren't there arming and financing them as iran (and the other gulf states, on various levels of down-low) has been. if this was literally in our back yard, i'm not sure the response would have been a lot different.
i'd say i'm glad i'm not involved directly in this goatfuck but i've got family on the edges of this. we're also expanding the base in the negev desert outside of gaza, and peacekeeper forces are being talked about.

before people foam at the mouth, i'm not condoning any of the behavior, just noting our response would have likely even more egregious, and i'm glad i'm not having to prop up another destroyed infrastructure in the aftermath.
the thing is; from the israeli point of view they're actually having a lot of success atm
hamas confirmed a couple weeks back that one of their senior military commanders in the gaza ayman nofal was killed by the idf, which has just made the idf more bold through all of this. now they truly don't give a fuck and they're taking out targets left and right uncaring of the body count
the idf really are killing hamas members, but they're killing thousands to do it. which just sounds like the middle east in a nutshell
The part that is really interesting, in a pretty macabre way of thinking, to me - what's next though
They are fully aware that the real kingpins are in Qatar and they also know who is backing them. If they are dead fucking serious that they are going to exterminate Hamas, there has to be a massive escalation after this. Are they for real?
when can canada do this to quebec
we leveled afghanistan over the taliban just housing al queso. took a giant shit on iraq because they tried (poorly) to smoke bush senior years ago, and people ate it up (and still do). no one's going to lament poor saddam and his psycho rapist sons, or quaddafi, or whomever, but we weren't exactly subtle about any of it. except for raiding pakistan, because htey have nukes.
