Apparently they are rolling tanks without infantry support because the tanks have a defensive system that can intercept an RPG.

Unfortunately without infantry support you can't just stop a guy from scurrying directly up to your tank and putting a bomb on it to disable the system.

Or, also, firing 2 RPGs does the trick.

Likely ineffective, or they'd have been parading the dead crew and burning hulk of the tank instead of a knocked off piece of whatever that was.

But yeah, point remains that tanks are vulnerable to keyhole ambushes like that. Gets worse in a city.

Israel is withholding fuel from being delivered into Gaza specifically for that reason, and Hamas is making demands for it in exchange for hostages.

israel has literal boots on the grounds all over northern gaza atm and are the ones in full control of every and all supply chains in and out of the area

if they are capable of getting all these shipments to where they want them to go in the first place, they can also keep those shipments secure once they've arrived. and if they can't, they have the most powerful military giant behind them with the means to assist with basic humanitarian aid

the truth is israel care as little about palestine citizens as hamas does so it's just easier to shrug your shoulders and say oops... so everyone is blame

Hamas is estimated to be sitting on 200k gallons of fuel that they’re hoarding away from the hospitals and bakeries. Estimated because of humanitarian aid.

... again, everyone is equally and intentionally hoarding their fuel from these citizens (hospitals) for about a month

Maybe. But given the information we have only one of these parties is intentionally hoarding fuel intended for hospitals and food.

If you knew any fuel you gave to a country was likely just going to get stolen and then used to launch rockets straight back at you, you probably wouldn't want to take the chance either.

I think the "Hamas steals supplies" narrative is a bit complicated by the fact that they are the elected government of Gaza. If we sent fuel to NK and they used it for military purposes instead of to heat their people's houses, it would kind of be like "well, I guess we're dumb" and not "dang they stole that fuel." Governments get to decide how shit that enters their territory is used, whether it is ostensibly private property or not.

Hamas is terrible, as are many middle east governments. However, they are pretty aggressively subjugated by their neighbor. Is it unprecedented for them to attempt to defend themselves / attack that neighbor using nationalized supplies, even if those supplies have theoretical humanitarian uses?

Egypt isn't under attack from Hamas and I'm pretty sure they've been blocking supplies from entering Gaza as well outside of the one set of aid trucks let in a few days ago.

They had one election in 2007 where Hamas didn't get the majority of vote and they've ruled as a military dictatorship since then, allowing no more voting.

Majoritarian democracies are not the only form of government. Also, they got 44% of the vote to Fatah's 41%, so a weak plurality.

Israel's history of negotiating with them and recent declaration of war acknowledges them as the government of Gaza. We can talk about them as shithead state sponsors of terrorism, but that still acknowledged that they are the government of a sovereign state, no?

I'm pretty sure Palestine not having any elections since 2006 is actually because of the PLO. They were afraid that if they had more elections Hamas would end up with complete control as opposed to just the Gaza Strip.

Sovereign is he who decides upon the exception, which I'm psure means the USA is sovereign (and therefore Israel because they have our backing)

mentioned it before but exit polls in 06 showed most Pallies wanted Hamas to change its policy towards Israel and went for them primarily because of Fatah corruption and for internal security. ain't no regret like human shield regret.

ain't happening in the foreseeable future but wonder what a Palestinian election would look like today. have to be sick of the absolute failure of both options at this point.
