This show is actually not bad, I like it quite a bit so far. Does this supposed to have multiple seasons or is it just the 10 episodes?

As far as I know it's just a mini-series.
Yes, just the 10 episodes. I only know that it is based on a trilogy and that apparently the first 4-5 episodes supposedly would be the first book. Or at least so I read elsewhere.
I'm glad to have a good summer series without the pressure for showrunners to drag it on for years and years.
Yup, it's 3 books - and they are in the 2nd book now. I like the pace they are going at, and the amount of episodes they have. So far they have been sticking pretty much with the books (there was one plot/event switch but nothing drastic).
I would have actually liked to have seen it stretched to 12 or 14 episodes realistically and having the stuff from last night be in around episode 6/7. The thing I really dig about it is that there just is no time for filler episodes, even if some things seem at times like "wow, that storyline advanced/ended fast". (I'm saying this without book knowledge, so I don't know what kind of pacing they really could do. I've stayed away from spoilers though I heard they were everywhere.)
As I said, I'm in favor of just a simple summer series one-off like this. I do tune in to some of the cable shows that air during the summers (or have split-seasons) but it's really nice to get the whole story in 2.5 months and just have it all contained in that time.
I refuse to get my hopes up to avoid getting blue balled by Shymalan again.
Just finished 3rd episode
Spoiler: show
Shit finally got interesting.
6th episode just aired tonight
Spoiler: show
Thought the final episode was really good until the token M Night "what a twist!"
Is that how it ends in the books or does robotic chicken's prophetic wisdom know no bounds?
where did you see the final episode?
yeah the twist at the end was too m. night
I hear the book ends differently but it looks like this may lead to season 2? than again I dont want to watch that annoying kid so hope not
That was a huge waste of time. Show blew its load early and got chained to the plot. Why does M. Night Shamalamadingdong still get work?
That is much, much, much fucking better holy shit.
Fuck M. Night Shamalamadingdong.
man that book ending is so cool. kinda sounds like the tv series could have been a lot better. that's a shame.
Absolutely loved the series until the last three minutes. Trying to find the right words, but that kind of ending without any context whatsoever borders on satire.
Seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I really loved the show and then that final scene I was like "WHAT THE FUCK?!"
Instead of an uplifting "humanity overcomes adversity" ending like the book, shamallama turned into "humanity repeats the mistakes of it's past! WE ARE DOOMED" preachy nonsense.
so we're getting season 2 afterall
