Yeah its not like the Master is gonna go away. I cant even properly Champion each round, not gonna bother today. Still doing hard for the shitload of orbs though.
Another thing that will be useful for the casters is farming Black Cowl from the FFV Ship Graveyard boss (Siren). Can do it on Classic mode to save on both Stamina and frustration. There's also a way to cheese the bosses so that you waste less stamina to get the drop you need.
Spoiler: show
People are using it to farm the Black Cowl to get it to 5* for their mages as well as other upgrade-able equipment.
So uh, Dark Attack doesn't count as a dark attack against the Mist dragon? I guess I'm going to need to level up my black mage to use Darkbolt on it if I want to get the master reward?
As I say that, I beat the hard daily and mastered it. Got lucky with the weak mobs in the last round. This was my party

You can get the Master without having to use a Dark type attack. It changes to mist form immediately following it's 4th attack, so count out 3 attacks and don't set anyone to attack after that 3rd one. As long as you keep to OHKOs on the trash and not get countered you can get Master.
EDIT: Can also use Tyro's Judgment Bolt as I believe that is a Dark type attack.
Just bad luck I guess, I knew about the 4 turns then mist too. Maybe just too many rounds. Didn't seem like it since my team is 29-31.
the game caters to FF7 characters so much in excessive power
Sabin suplexed a train, he should be stronger
Ive tweaked my party to be Seph, Cloud, Tidus, WHM, and Rydia. my WHM gets 1shot occasionally though, think its a better choice to swap her for Tyro instead? I hate losing prayer but I think it might be needed
Yeah I just swapped to Tyro. He doesn't have prayer and has slightly less MND but he makes up for it in every other stat, plus the capability of wearing real armor and a a Harp to do some slight damage. I plan to use him in a healing role until someone like Aeris, Reina, Yuna, Garnet or Eiko are out.
I have 2 of the 5 star healing staves
Judgement Staff?
Apparently you can go above 5*. I'm not sure if the feature is in the NA/Global edition yet, but if you had, say, 3 Buster Swords you could make a 7* Buster Sword. With a 5* weapon I'd likely spread the love out, but with a staff/rod I'd probably upgrade and combine it since only 1 character will use it at a time.
I've been using the same party, except I have Tifa instead of WHM. I suppose it depends on what you're running, but I haven't had to heal often, and having the WHM in there basically makes it a 4-party team, offensively speaking. I put Thundara + Cura on Rydia, and I often don't take damage before clearing a wave.
Admittedly, though, all of my guys are sporting 4 or 5* armor, and average 4* weapons. Part of it is also that I don't want to invest in characters I know I won't be keeping. As soon as we get a 3* White Magic capable character, WHM will become next to useless, and by the time we get 4*+ White Magic, I'm sure there a dedicated healer would be out.
For current content, even the 2* White Magic hybrid characters may be enough (e.g. PLD Cecil, Lightning, Squall, etc.). Rydia is so damn squishy that when we get one of those, I'll probably take her out completely for general content.
I've found I've needed more healing for the elite dungeons. Rydia doesn't have much MND so I like to keep Tyro in there. I usually give him a heal & debuff and keep a -ra and base spell on Rydia that corresponds to the boss' vulnerability.
EX: Tyro has Cura and Poison; Rydia has Thundara and Thunder. Poison is nothing to scoff at in this game. It can do 500+ per tick to some of these bosses.
swapped WHM for Tyro, hilariously though they used the same armor (the 4 star White Robe)
I might consider tossing the Gengi armor on him though, the extra def might help
Rydia actually has 18 more MND than Tyro, which is almost enough to offset a 4* Rod Rydia vs a 4* Staff Tyro. But I suppose if you're going to have a dedicated healer anyway, Tyro isn't a bad choice.
Tyro's main strength is his ability to use anything. Since so much of the game depends on your initial relic pulls, and with the initial lack of character selection, he's not a bad choice as a filler. He also has about 75% more HP than White Mage, so he's definitely the better healer overall.
EDIT: Actually, I'm looking at the characters, and of all the 5* WM characters, Tyro has the most HP by over 400. Of course, his MND stat is barely half of the named 5* WMs, and his defenses are much worse, but HP is the one thing he has going for him.
You're right, Tyro only has 1 more MND than Rydia with my setup, though I'm also using a 4* Crystal Helm on him rather than a mage piece. If I used a Black Cowl instead he'd have 11 more MND.
Other WHMs in the future don't really matter at this point, though, as we don't have access to them. Right now he has more HP and the ability to have much more DEF than any other character that could effectively heal your party. I thought he had significantly more MND than my Rydia admittedly. Turns out that's not the case.
