After 10+ tries and numerous S/L retries, I'm stopping so I can do something else. I think my main problem is ability hones -- just don't have enough for the right abilities.

At least we have another day for Phase 1.

I'm a lot worse; I let my desires for Lullaby Rod cloud my judgment and have a bunch of 5* armor to show for it 250 mythril later

Still have 200 left, but... it was a bad decision.

My setup was
Squall: R3 Power Break, R4 Launch
Lightning: R4 Armor Break, R4 Launch
Sazh: R3 Magic Breakdown, R2 Power Breakdown
Rinoa: R3 Quake, R3 Thundaja
Garnet: R4 Faith, R3 Diaga

Just did 1 11 pull and got an FFX 5* armor. Almost wanted to try again, but then I remembered Hardedge is in this banner....like I need more of those ><

I'm still doing single pulls on Rinoa banner because I want a gun or her Rising Sun. I might save a few for the Squall banner though.

It is for Irvine. For the foreseeable future (next week or two) I won't reasonably be able to replace Irvine with someone who can break 50, so having a ranged character who can use breaks seems like a good idea.

It is, but if you can try to replace Irvine with Sazh or Quistis (if you have em) Or Wakka

Don't have Sazh or Quistis, have Wakka at lv1 but no ball and would have to use Sunday time / eggs that I currently have planned for WHM / BLM RM and then Sephiroth to replace Steiner

IMO being ranged isn't that important, when it's only one more or less person. In your example, single-target attacks would only hit Irvine 1/5th of the time, and a lot of physical AoEs are ranged in nature, so his being ranged isn't going to buy you much. Since you're relatively new, you're not going to be using Breakdowns anytime soon anyway.

Rinoa's banner is pretty bad compared to the upcoming SB festival banners, and even if it's a gun you really want, the SB5 banner is a much better selection (which you already said you'd save for).

Will also drop in forgotten treasure phase 3 ex++ against black waltz 1 for 30 stamina
