Are you kidding? You've been insanely helpful.

How much Gil are you getting from blade beam? I'm getting 1600-2000 from boon and I'm afraid to lose some of my good mutuals by switching.
Man, why do I even bother with banner pulls.
3 star helmet, 4 star helmet, 4 star black robe.
Though at least with the last, I had another black robe I could combine it with to +5. Was hoping to get a Hope or Vanille weapon.

The world has fallen low
hahaha.. gotta admit that strat was pretty clever tho
Cant watch vid atm. What is the strat?
I feel like Retaliate as a 2 star ability shouldn't negate physical damage at all. That kind of OPness I'd more expect on a 4*+ ability. Oh well, I guess it does help out those just getting started.
Looking at the list of banners JP has, I could understand if they pushed back the Recollection event a bit. After that one it's 12 banners until the next festival which is 2nd orb fest
No wonder Rata hates it.
Amazingly clever.
Also, Retaliate isn't infallible. It only protects against physical attacks, not natural magic.
Even though it doesn't protect against magic attacks, it's still fairly above the power curve though. I say that not because of this one video, but because it can easily be a dominant strategy
Not really. It's actually rather difficult to set up in harder fights.
You're missing his point that it is far more effective than any 2* ability has the right to be. It's not 100% foolproof? Well I'd fucking hope not.
need some advice, I have 3 genji armors and just got the new plate armor that gives you provoke (going to abuse that for advantilate cloud)
should I merge one set of the genji armors or do something else with it
And you're forgetting that at the time there probably weren't many more abilities and its utility wasn't so great because there weren't as many characters who could use it.
Limitations. I guess you could say Drain Strike and any attack buff is broken at the same time.
I didn't miss good point, it's just not valid in context.
Wow you are limited to a few characters to use the OP 2* ability. Boo-fucking-hoo.
I'm not rata, I don't care if you use advantaliate or its other forms. But if you're gonna use it, please don't try to pretend that its not slightly over the top OP.
Depends on what other armors you might have. If you have a lot of 5* armor (or high level armor in other realms for synergy) you can probably combine them.
Just because it's hard to setup on some fights doesn't make it not a dominant strat. If you look at the ffrk strat site a lot of the strats for bosses include using retaliate as the primary form of damage. The same goes for reddit. Even if it was the primary strat that you're "supposed" to use for a really hard fight that's fine. The problem comes when you see people using it for just about everything, which most game designers try to curtail. If there's a character in League of Legends for example, that everyone tends to use in most fights, Riot will make adjustments to bring that character back into balance.
I don't think it's fair to say Drain Strike or any attack buff is broken, and if you think what I'm saying makes it so then you are missing the point.
The only way I could see them making retaliate not OP as shit (for newer players anyways) is if they make it attack the person who attacked them vs attacking the enemy instead. If they only made it so the retaliator still took damage, you'd just have people equipping 1* daggers and crap.
