Once again the reason why Retaliate or Advantaliate (w/e) is cheap is because on how people use it.

Normal retaliate is useless because you have to 'pray' RNG that mob will hit you, but with Advan or retaliate you can go like 1 Strong player (usually cloud) 3 weak players and a healer, and you can just make the weak players attack or use double cut on the Retaliator which will make him counter for inside amount of damage at the cost of '1 attack'

That makes people clear stuff they are not suppose to or just beeing lazy, by having to focus on 1 character instead of trying to gear up most characters.

Tauntaliate is different if used correctly, because all you do is force the mob to hit 1 player, but the others still need to be actually competent, to attack the monster (unless they cheap out and do like normal retaliate)

Retaliate also have the possibility to counter AOE physical where reflect does not.

And just like human beeing usually do, if they do retaliate from the start, they simply won't stop because (we can win why change it)

Why is it so important to you how people play their games unless it's multiplayer or MMO? If someone decides to use Advantaliate to clear the whole game let him/her do so.
And why wouldn't you attack the retaliator in a Tauntaliate strategy if Advance is up? Unless your characters are all hitting for more (most of your party won't) you're just wasting time. The fight won't be any more difficult because you're already negating most/all damage without mitigation anyway.
I don't know why anyone would bother going with Advantaliate for the whole thing or if they'd even enjoy it but I sure enjoyed seeing Shiva melt because I retaliated all of her attacks (and some of my own). Makes up for the thousands of resets in past and future fights. I also like seeing people clear content with different setups (like the 4 retaliate you posted earlier), I really don't see what's wrong with any of that, it's been part of this franchise since the very first game.

I still don't understand doing vector for EXP; I've never needed to in either one of my accounts and going forward, it's going to be raining 5 major eggs and 10 greaters every event (based on my experience on JP side), which is more than enough for anything really.

Yeah but we gonna get so many characters soon that it's hard to level them up even with eggs

Bartz + Gilgamesh (new to everyone 1-65)
Galuf + Lenna (new for some people) so either 1-65 or 50-65

Next Event we getting Squall (either 1-80,50-80 or 65-80) Seifer 1-65 and Zell either 1-65 or 50-65
Then we get the DU

Cid 1-50 tHem maria + steiner either 1-65 or 50-65

That's alot in 2 weeks, Yes I agree there's a lot of people that doesn't deserver leveling up, but I like having people capped

You know what strat has been working for me from the very beginning? Put in characters that hit hard and auto / double cut everything. No vit0, no retaliate, just poke stuff.

Granted, the 25 pulls in the past event were very nice, 3 of those 5* plus the 2 advance sword dropped then (plus about 5~6 others that I probably wont use), but before that I was just using wakka with his 5* and squall/seph/dcecil with a 5* generic sword, and it was the same results. I sitll have about 300 mythril left. My very first myril pull on the first day was clouds buster.. sooo thats been very helpful. Oddly enough, I never get any defensive 5*, it's always offensive stuff.

Tauntaliate doesn't necessarily involve using advance; it's just a way of mitigating some physical damage, while adding a bit of physical damage. Both times I've used tauntaliate, it's never been with Advance; I just used it to funnel the physical damage to ease cure requirements (Brynhildr) because I didn't have an AoE cure and thus could not keep up even with other mitigation up.

But something I do believe w/e it's in RL or in games. There needs to be a gate between people who work hard to obtain their prize, vs people who are just lazy and doesn't work.

I'm not happy to see 2 weeks player accomplishing the same thing that should be made for older players with hones.

Come on now. It's not about gratification unless you approach EVERY boss with it. If I have the choice between missing orbs that improve my ability set and using Retameta I'm using it.

Is it broken if I use Draw Fire on a tank and have Luneth in my party? The broken aspect is that you don't counter your team, you hit the mob.

The truth is they (dena) don't want to lose potential whales over hard bosses, or they'd have removed it by now.

I used Vit0 when starting out because I didn't wanna miss fights I wasn't strong enough for. I don't blame anyone for using Retameta.

I've already said using it being undergeared/leveled is understandable. Also, whales are not going to be using retaliate 99% of the time and if they are... I have no clue why they'd want to whale in the first place if they won't use the gear.
