Ruinga and/or Meteor with Mana Spring II is just so overpowered for trash that I have a hard time ever leaving a BLM behind for dungeons.

my original plan was to go 4 melees and a whm for ogopogo but I decided to bring rydia with meteor/ruinga for the same reason.

I'm actually contemplating making a second Ruinga now. Quake's still cool, but I just worry about resists and I don't see myself getting an R2/3 Meteor anytime soon.

it also helps that ruinga is fairly cheap to make R4 and does good damage even if you end up using it on single target bosses. think i'd make another one since more often than not i'm running with a second blm that has quake anyway.

I look at trash differently than most people. I'm trying to fill at least 3, and hopefully 4, SB gauges for the boss fight. In 61 stam elites that requires 4 characters to preform at least 1 action every round on the way to the boss. AoE trash clearing doesn't really work well for that. Even a reasonable amount of damage to my party is fine, as long as I don't lose medals, since that fills the gauge as well.

Edit: I still haven't made meteor and it might be a while since I used all my MEOs on barrage.

Why :E? I just do the day of as normal and starting event stuff the following morning (unless it's like an orb fest where repeat as much as possible matters). Doing it asap doesn't have any benefits.

I care more about saturday orbs than friday orbs, so doing it all on friday wouldve made more sense.

correct. with the setup I had it was a breeze (attunements on strago/celes, sword+ on setzer). need to make sure you get mitigation up to avoid losing the damage taken medal. I'm assuming you're going to lose the actions medal regardless since strago and celes always did 9999 and setzer was doing 6kish. you can s/l if he gets a spell off, doesn't lose him.

If you just redo stage 1 or do all 3 ( since with those 3 I don't think you can just auto trash all the way)
