In general, Heroic would be better for strictly 3* I guess, but I'm not sure I'd drop down to save 15 stamina and lose the chance at Majors as well as the sharp decrease in Greaters.

This is shortsighted. Farming + is better as you will end up with more total orbs for whatever you want when orb conversion comes around.

Machinist skills came out during the Freya event on the JP side if memory serves correctly. The first two were Silence + Blind Shot which did damage and their debuff at a seemingly higher rate than the busters as well as the added benefit of doing even more damage if the mob already has that status effect on it. Since then, they've added Poison Shot. I think the base multiplier before the bonus if the target has the status effect is 1.9.

If you want more 3* orbs RIGHT NOW to make some ability, heroic would be your fastest way to it.

You're talking about very minimal gains in the short term; I wasn't aware I was "going off" just by disagreeing with your advice. Also, he didn't exactly say he wanted only 3 star: "For orb gains, even of the 3* variety,"

There is a pretty steep decrease in even 3* drops in heroic, some runs netting me 2 orbs. But heroic let's me do it mindlessly at work so I don't lose stamina. Will probably do + at home when I can pay attention.

Ok, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on additional damage from Busters since I usually just stop using them after their effect procs in favor of higher multiplier skills.

Extra five stamina for more orbs and higher chance for greater and majors makes me not want to bother with heroic, but if you exclusively want 3* heroic the most economic option is indeed heroic.
