Bartz is one of the most used characters on the JP side, so it's definitely not lame. Once power steal comes out, you'll be singing a different tune.

He suffers from not being as cool as Locke or Zidane! I've not looked at their stats/abilities to see if he's better though.

Pretty sure Zidane and Locke will both be equal in speed @ 80, but Zidane hasn't been able to break 65 cap yet. Bartz only has Thief at 4 so he can't use that skill, but if you're using Power Steal... you'd need to hone that 5* ability to like R3 for it to actually be useful and that's tough. HOWEVER, if you get Zidane's SSB, which is close to Power Steal but includes direct damage (only +35% attack though), you could bring that ability. Alternatively, Ramza's SSB would replace the use of Power Steal as well.

Well at 65 we have the following

Zidane - 164 SPD, 138 ATK
Locke - 164 SPD, 137 ATK
Bartz - 130 SPD, 140 ATK

Bartz is significantly 'tankier' than the other two though
Bartz has better weapon access (Axes, Katanas, Spear, Bows)
Bartz probably gets slightly better ability access I think, spreadsheet won't load that section right now

I can see why Bartz gets a lot of use as he offers a lot of versatility.

Not sure. The game does not treat it as a gun (only Barret and Tyro can use it) so it shouldn't count.

Pissed at Ultima Weapon Elite now. Got through it without using a mythril refresh and I was 1 medal short of mastery. Damnit.

And of course the mythril shard would have refreshed me, but no its only a reward for mastery. Now I have to wait 4 hours for the stamina.

Spent an hour and a half on JENOVA Death elite so far, this fight is ridiculous
