RATA, MAKE A GUIDE! Which characters should be priority for each section? In Souls, which are event only and not currently from dungeons? BG seems to be split between fairly new and Day 1 players. Depending on how far you are, you can't event pick 4 MC1s. Hoping this helps some of our newer people. I know, some will be arbitrary for what gear you may already have, but I'm trying to get a good general answer.

Who should I redeem my Souls/Crystals on?

Now this is the big question. Before going in-depth on each character I want to make a quick and simple guideline that should help in making decisions. They can't be saved so anything unused after becomes eggs.

• Who are your favorite characters? This one might sound silly, but this is a game designed to be fun. Being super efficient should never take priority over doing what is fun for you. If Balthier is your favorite character and you don't want to wait a month for his re-release grab him, no questions asked.
• Do you possess any powerful character relics? Character specific relics can turn a mediocre character into a good character and a good character into a godly character. Some relics are even more powerful! You will never go wrong bolstering your party to take advantage of your equipment.
• Do I value the characters who were in the skipped events? While there is no guarantee these characters will be featured in the RoR, this may be the first (and in some cases only) time we will be able to get MCs from the skipped events. The main ones here are Edward, Firion, and Ingus.
• When is a character re-released? The game usually does a good job at making sure most characters and their MCs are accessible for newer players, but some characters take a long while to reappear. These ones are good picks as you don't want to be waiting 5-6 months for a certain character to appear.
• Do I want the characters gated behind a hard story dungeon? While some characters and MCs are readily available in story dungeons, clearing difficulty 135 elites in DU14 or whatever can be daunting for a lot of players. While eventually you should strive to complete all the dungeons perhaps you feel those characters would be an immediate boon to your party?

For me personally, characters that get the most use for me are casters with 5* black magic and characters with 5* support. After that just fill in rest of the slots with abilities (and appropriate characters that can use them) to round out the squad. Power/Magic Break(down) are must. Curaga if you don't wanna S/L every battle to not get hit by trash, or if you know you'll get hit hard by the boss. Protectga/Shellga if you're not bringing SG/SSII. If target boss is susceptible to debuffs like paralyze and blind, bring it. Then fill the rest with hard hitting skills like -ga/ja spells (prioritize boss weakness element), 3/4* physical skills, Armor/Mental Break(down) to improve damage.

Based on the planned abilities, the characters you need to use them will fill out the squad. And based on the type of characters you don't already have 2 or 3 of, get them through the Vale.

Looking for some advice on what banners to pull on. My Black Mages are pretty strong with their relics (Rinoax2, Golbez, Vanille, Yuna (holy soul break staff has strong magic stat if healer has a sync weapon), Poison rod (X) damage and poison all shared). I have Katanas out my ears (Kotetsu (VI) 6*, Kotetsu (V), OWA (VII) and 4 star nodachi), other melee are Firion's Axe (so he's a definite MC spend), Gold Sword (VII), Khimari spear (X) 6 star, Luneth (III) Advance, and Danjuro. Ranged weapons (Rinoa's make decent ones with sync especially), Irvine (VIII) Gun, and Evil Lantern from Halloween. Other items with unique abilities are Mog (VI) Heroic Scarf, Viking Coat (XII) Water attack all, Gold wrist (VII) Protectga, Minotaur Plate (VIII) Shellga.

I feel I am weak in the buffs/defensive abilities department. I missed Cloud's MC2 but I've picked up all the others so far, he was just out of reach as I was just getting strong enough for bonus battles as it was released. I got his now so I will have his RM3 in time which will make the wrist/plate more useful in bonus battles where I need to get a buff up asap. I am looking at banners 1 and 2 for Thyrus and Sentinel's Grimoire (if this had been in the beginner's banner I wouldn't have Advance). These 2 soul breaks account for about 35 of my follows. I have enough mythril for pulls on 1 and 2 and depending on how much time I have to earn some more mythril between now and the last banner I could do a 50 pull on that too. I have 120 mythril right now.

If for any reason someone can tell me to roll on the other banners, I'll split them up somehow but I see these 2 banners as my best chance to finally get a decent defensive soul break without having to use a RW. Why, why, why couldn't Lunatic High or Boon be in the banners ?

Like you said those two are your best bets. If you're covered in healing and damaging SBs just go for them and good luck.

The new Mog stash thing might be the compensation. Although why they're handing out 10 mythril with a login bonus and not straight away is a mistery.

I forgot which banner it was, but there was a banner very early on where they also made a mistake with the drop rate and they gave everyone that pulled a full refund... hell, l I think Rata got like 50 - 100 mythril back?

Finally beat Omega, didn't get Mastery but no need since you only get 10k. Here was my party setup if anyone is interested.



Boon RW, you'll need the haste. Both stop's are R4 so 8 charges each, used them all. S/l'd until I got Mental Break off before Flash. Didn't use SS2 until he was at less than 50%.

Mental Breakdown only took Vivi's Thundaga from doing ~5700 damage to ~6300. Rinoa was already doing 9999 with Thundaja thanks to Mana Paean on Eiko

Hour and a half later, but Omega down. Mastered, too, but lolgold. Really just one of those RNG buttfuck fights where you need the stars to align unless you're like super pimped out or don't mind throwing mythril at buffs.
