I wonder how the next XIII Ultimate fight will go. Looks like the fight is somewhat designed for retaliate/reflect. That kind of fight I don't mind seeing a lot of retaliate strats, since it seems that's what the fight is kinda designed for. Reflect would also work for that Barthandelus-U fight, but I'd honestly be scared about not being able to heal the person with reflect on them

On the topic of retaliate, there will be attacks that ignore retaliate in future U/U+ fights so eventually it won't be as iWin as it is now.

done with dungeon update. exdeath is a lot calmer with his damage output but still need mitigation. carbuncle is rngfest since he casts death right as he reapplies reflect. Gilgamesh cast aoe flash on me but it never landed on my melees so it was fine.

back to RM hunting and working on core samurai

Strago's RM is realm specific. :/ Waiting for stamina for the bonus battles, not sure which character I should pick for Ultimate between Tidus and Squall (Slice & Dice on Tidus, Fated Circle on Squall). Tidus is only 65 though, maybe I can egg him a bit.
Mages will probably be Rinoa and Vanille but I'm kinda scared about Osmose tbh... I have no Wall or SSB to carry me through the fight.

Well being I need about an additional 100+ 3* black and power orbs and no clue yet on when orb conversion/breakdown is coming, yeah the 6 3 stars would have been much nicer than just two random 4 stars.

Yeah, I feel I either got really lucky with Exdeath or people were overstating how difficult he was. I beat him second attempt with a team I threw together 5 minutes before the deadline. First attempt I got 4 Vacuum Waves in a row, second attempt I won without issue (Was still AoE spammy but just enough where Drain Strike/Curaga could keep up). Was using a 'normal' strat too

Bartz - Drain Strike / Armor Break
Lightning - Drain Strike / Firaga Strike
Steiner - Drain Strike / Power Break
Sazh - Full Break / Magic Breakdown
Aeris - Carbuncle / Curaga

It would have been easier if I had Dr Mog's Teaching. I just did Boon > Breaks > wait until Aeris was close to SB > SG from RW > Carbuncle > PP > Kill him.

Drain Strike was your MVP there, and I basically suggested people do similar earlier if they were lacking some key SBs. So, dunno if you took my advice or not. Without them, though, a lone healer could easily overwhelmed by unfavorable AoE or bad counters.

It's actually not really any different to how I handle most fights. I usually run 2-3 spellblades anyway (not always with Drain Strike). Allows my healer to sit around doing nothing until they are really required.

There's enough spellblades now where you can usually cram some sort of RS gear in their hands. That fight was the first time I used Steiner who I only took because he could equip Rune Axe. I know Bartz can too but I had 2 Rune Axes!

Of course it helps I have been lucky with spellblade user relics (I have relics for Cloud, Squall, Lightning, Bartz, Celes, Balthier. Granted they are generally the lesser relics for those characters i.e. no SSB's or Runic Celes)

Still debating on Beginner Banner or just skip at this point. I have no good weapons for Wakka as my highest support but his relic isn't guaranteed. It'd be nice if the Vega was on there but Balthier's gun isn't appealing at all.

The weapons on that banner do nothing for me at this point. I could do an 11 on the FFX banner but I'm thinking I should just wait for the Lightning SSB.

I feel we kind of got screwed on that banner a bit with the guaranteed relics. And really with it being a beginner banner, it should have been a 'Lucky Pull' for the banner itself rather than normal banner. Or they could have put something worthwhile on the banner at least (Healing Grimoire would be a lot better if it didn't eat 2 SB gauges)

Part of me wonders if they intend to give us another similar banner that has the same +1 philosophy in the future, but with the actual banner being much more like the JP version. Perhaps around the 1 year anniversary we'll see something like that and this banner we got was a global exclusive that was actually meant for newer players and thus the shittier rewards.
