Oh actually losing money isn't going to happen these days. Remember even Suicide Squad and BvS were still highly profitable

No argument here (even if I enjoy Incredible Hulk) but there's a major difference between a bad movie and a flop. The Hulk didn't make much money I think because it was so early in the MCU. IM2 and Thor2 still made decent profit margins even if they're the worst of the bunch. Financially speaking, they were successes. Not as much as Avengers, or Black Panther, but they still brought in about 250+ million each in profits, if not more when taking VOD and DVD sales into consideration.

IM3 was probably the only true “fuck up” in the MCU. Movie was fucking terrible lmao.

IM3 is incredibly divisive. I personally can't stand it, but it's still one of the highest grossing Marvel movies of all, sitting at like 1.2 billion.

By that metric I guess. But really nothing in the DCEU has flopped either by that standard lol. The last superhero blockbuster I can think of that didn't make a decent profit was Green Lantern and I can't think of any others this century

    Justice League?

Also, IM3 is the only bad MCU movie. IM2 is honestly fine. Hulk was fine. Thor2 was... ok, maybe theres 2 bad MCU movies. But either way, that's nothing but gold since very early in phase 2. Last like, 10 movies in a row have all been fucking great.

Green Hornet was a huge flop.

Man I liked Thor 2. What's with the hate?

I would honestly say I only think Incredible Hulk was bad.

Its not really that it was bad, but it was just not good lol. Villain was awful and had 0 character development. Janes entire role was super shoehorned in. I don't remember the fights or anything being super exciting. Thor and Loki scenes were amazing, but the rest was just meh.

I actually enjoyed Thor 2 as well, and didn't like IM3 at all.

The worst thing about Thor 2 was that it led to Peter MacNicol, Asgardian Berserker, on AOS.

    Two thoughts:

    1) Caught Hulk on the Marvel Marathon Month and it made me miss Edward Norton and the old school MCU that took itself seriously

    2) Iron Man 3 was only terrible because it was, I feel, the beginning of "tell jokes at inappropriate times" Marvel and we had gotten used to the serious tone of the previous Iron Man movies and the Avengers. It was otherwise fine. Or, another way of looking at it is that it was a good Marvel movie but a terrible Iron Man movie.

Man I feel like Ruffalo is so much better in that role though. Dude nails it.

My problem with IM3 is that it was fucking dumb. Character choices were dumb throughout the entire thing. Why the fuck didn't he use house party when he was being attacked at his house? Normally dumb decisions don't bother me too much, but this one was... ugh. NVM the fact that they wasted mandarin, wasted Iron patriot, wasted extremis. I don't even really read the comics, but I could see that all those were wasted opportunities that they just threw into the movie.

I mostly hated IM3 for the way it cliche’d PTSD. It took a personal subject for myself and didn’t do it any justice at all.

Depends. Are we taking out the cut theaters get from the box office totals and advertising? I assumed we weren't since it's hard to get an exact number and smaller films don't get reported as much on that (especially advertising). But just comparing ratio of box office to budget Hulk did decently worse than both those.

I do love the divide on IM3 though. Wasn't great but way better than 2 and actually pretty good outside of the PTSD stuff and excessive use of dragon people... and grossed twice as much with the same budget .

I'll agree that they've been on their game lately though. It is funny how 10 sounds like it's a nice round number for this but 11th ago was Dark world lol. Though I will argue about AoU being gold. Wasn't bad but definitely below the standard of other recent MCU and kind of disappointing for one of the few Avenger movies.

I miss Ed but Ruffalo nails it. I more miss Tim Roth. Dude doesn't get enough roles in bigger movies

Nah I said that too. I would love to have an Norton in Avengers for continuity but Ruffalo is GREAT in the role.

Movies have been great since after IM3, but I think SpiderMan: Homecoming was kind of "meh". Without Keaton's performance it could've been in the bottom of the barrel of MCU movies.
