Both studios have reportedly stepped away from talks but news that it was happening didn't leak for no reason. Both companies stock made a leap after it came out, I would wager it was revealed intentionally to gauge the reaction.

Apocalypse was hawt garbage. But Deadpool and Logan showed they can still make bank so I don’t see them giving up the franchises anytime soon.
And they can't even continue off of Logan. And while they can make money off Deadpool they'd obvious make some money, possibly more, off Disney who would be thrillled to rid themselves of most of the character rights mess with Marvel.
Rumor: Chris Evans to appear as The Nomad

So a quick Google tells me The Nomad is a beard enthusiast, pissed off about how America is being run (lol) and a low key bad ass. Any else worth noting for my casual self?

Looks like the trailer is going to be attached to the latest Star Wars movie.
Any word on if its the one that was leaked or a new trailer?
an article I read suggested it was going to be a new one. the leaked one was just for the disney expo

Fox is now in talks with Sony for the X-Men to join Sony's Spiderverse.
Million dollar question is whether or not Marvel Studios would need to work out a new deal to use them in the MCU, or if being a part of the "Spiderverse" would make them a part of the original deal. I don't know the specifics of the deal, but I'm inclined to believe it only covers the use of Spider-Man himself. That said, I could see Marvel and Sony coming to terms on a new deal for X-Men properties
Too little too late for me. Fox had the most perfect actors for the main Xmen and completely wasted their talent. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Sir Ian Mckellen all hung up their roles for good and they were meant for those characters. Damnit.
Yea, I honestly don't think they'll find anyone quite as iconic to fill those roles in MCU cross-overs. Fox goofed big time.
how did they goof? They have played those roles for ages. Not even Disney will be able to keep their actors under contract for that long
I do agree that they are as iconic into their roles as thee current MCU characters are to theirs
Uh, because we could have had those actors with the current Marvel actors.
You kinda went tangential there.
Um...2 of those 3 have already been replaced by newer/younger actors that have both done very well. And Hugh Jackman's not unique; there's been a ton of gruff, badass leading men in roles where the characters have similar attitudes to Wolverine. They'll find someone who can do the role justice, and maybe even find one that's 5'3" like Hugh Jackman definitely isn't.
So basically this is confirmation bias; you say those actors "were meant for those characters" as if nobody else is, only because they were good enough and close enough that they did a good job, and then everyone associated the characters with those actors. If Macavoy/Fassbender had been the first people cast for Xavier/Magneto, within the last few years, and nobody else after them, we'd be saying the same thing about them.
Imagine if there were no x-men movies till the 2010's. Macavoy/Fassbender become iconic for the roles, some fan goes "but Patrick Stewart would've been perfect", and they'd be right.
But then, as things actually happened, I could say "Clint Eastwood would've been the perfect Wolverine if they had the effects to do this when he was young." and you can't really argue against that. (except the height issue again)
Spoiler: show
Hell, even found a side by side just now on the first page of images for "young Clint Eastwood"
Spoiler: show
tl;dr original xmen actors were great but there's definitely other choices in any era that could've become just as iconic, and that'll continue to apply in the future
I normally agree with that statement. But Patrick Stewart IS Xavier. Like, I honestly don't know who could ever even come close to how perfectly suited he was for that role.
Jackman made Wolverine his. Mckellan was a great Magneto (though I actually prefer Fassbender). But Stewart IS Xavier.
I think part of this comes from how long the actors have had these roles. If the MCU aqcuires the X-Men, they'll do fine in filling these roles. It'll be a bigger outcry than Spiderman was since everyone was so familiar with the FOX X-Men cast. As long as they handle the rest of the mutants better than they did with Quicksilver, I'm sold.

I remember saying the same thing about Tobey Maguire and Spiderman though (before 3, of course). I won't disagree with saying Stewart is Xavier, except that that statement never stops the possibility of someone coming in later on who is at least as good a fit.
As for that, there's been rumors that killing him off was a big FU to Fox, which of course wouldn't be applicable anymore.
