Because it'd start with this, but then it'd transition to "you have to sign up for this to play our games online"! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it >.> <.<;
Clearly wasn't a poor choice of words..

I believe they said on twitter that they don't have plans to pull games from the vault except for titles whose expected lifetime is expired (like in 5 years do they want to be running servers for Fifa 14 because a dozen diehards still play it? No...) I'm sure in the coming days there will be more clarity on this, as it seems to be a point of confusion.
I'm sure it was a bad source. They really should lay out their plans more clearly to attempt to prevent the spread of bad intel.
EOL for EA games is closer to 2 years than 5 years. They shut down the FIFA/Madden '11 servers in January 2013.
If anybody needs to get better at consistently clear messaging for their online games it's EA but here were are again lol

Games available in the beta include FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2, but EA chief operating officer Peter Moore says more major titles are on the way.
"The Vault will get its share of triple-A titles," Moore told CVG. "We haven't made any announcements to that extent about exactly when, where and how, but the Vault will be substantial."
Moore suggested that EA must carefully consider what it adds to the vault, whilst confirming that the publisher has pledged to not remove games from it.
"New game additions will be determined by franchise and timing," he said. "We have to make decisions along that way. There's no template, like 30 days after a game ships it goes into the Vault.
"I think one of the key things is that once a game goes into the Vault it stays there, it's not going to be taken out, that's a commitment we've made."
Hearing that EA access is now live on XBOne.
Game Demos to be locked unless you're a Subscriber?http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/08/...ss-membership/In surprising news, for the first time in ten years Madden NFL 15 will not release a free demo.
Dry those tears for not all is lost. A free demo will only be available to people who are Xbox One owners with an EA Access membership.
EA did issue the following statement,
The difficult decision not to do a demo for Madden was strictly a result of the team’s commitment to deliver the highest-quality game possible. We chose to put 100 percent of our development resources toward the full game.

'difficult decision'
lol
but you've already got a huge demo of this year's madden in the vault
Paying for demos is the new shit, why
Early Access limited to 6 hours, XB Gold required for multiplayerhttp://www.vg247.com/2014/08/19/madd...ess-six-hours/The Madden NFL 15 demo included in EA Access is limited to six gameplay hours, EA has confirmed.
It’s worth noting that the “demo” is not a specific teaser build but the full, feature-complete game, so putting a timer on it is the only way EA can limit it to a taster experience rather than, you know, the full release.
In this instance, the demo really seems to be functioning as an Early Access deal rather than a taster – albeit a very limited one. Sort of makes you miss the old Season Ticket scheme, where you’d get unlimited use early access to the whole EA Sports range.
This kind of demo is the cheapest to produce, because it doesn’t involve much extra development work. Its existence is, in that regard, a good thing, as publishers are proving more and more loathe to produce demos.
In many other ways it’s going to be deeply unpopular. For one thing, it’s not free, as demos usually are – EA Access costs $5 a month or $30 per year, so the publisher is essentially locking demos behind a paywall. Sort of ruins the whole try-before-you-buy thing, doesn’t it? We an’t say this comes as a surprise, though; this isn’t the first paywalled EA demo situation we’ve seen.
For another, EA Access is not available on PlayStation consoles, so there’s no way for PS3 and PS4 fans to get the demo. Gosh. (Sony has said it doesn’t have anything against the scheme, by the way, although it has suggested EA Access isn’t good value.)
Finally, making you pay for something then limiting the time you an spend with it – well. The outrage over PlayStation Now pricing is probably a pretty good indication of how digital rentals are going down with the gaming community right now.
Of course, EA Access’s subscription price includes other content: Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2. More will be added in the future, and none removed. You don’t need a Gold Live sub for EA Access, but you will need one if you want to use the multiplayer side of any of the included games.

Fuck EA.
In other news.... both Activision and Ubisoft are toying with the idea of running their own services as well! Bow down to your service overlords.
Upcoming Plans: Access in More Countries, Need for Speed Rivals Vault Access, & Trail Modes for NHL 15 and FIFA 15http://www.ea.com/news/ea-access-bri...this-septemberLast month we introduced EA Access, a new program that makes it easier for Xbox One gamers to get their hands on great EA games, and we want to take a moment to thank all of our members. We were incredibly excited to see so many gamers jump in to the recent Madden NFL 15 trial. Together, EA Access members put in a total of 245,000 total hours playing Madden NFL 15 before the game was even released.
This month, we’re excited to announce that we're making EA Access even better.
Available Soon in More Countries
Later this month, EA Access will be rolling out to 19 additional locations. Gamers in countries including Brazil, Netherlands, UAE and Nordic countries will be able to become members and enjoy unlimited time in The Vault.
Need for Speed Rivals Goes in The Vault
To welcome our new members, we will be adding Need for Speed Rivals to The Vault in the coming weeks. Need for Speed Rivals will join Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Peggle 2, and Madden NFL 25 in The Vault as games you can play any time you want for as long as you want. Rivals lets you play as either cop or racer, and introduces the all-new AllDrive social system to blend the line between singleplayer and multiplayer.
Details on Upcoming Trials
September will also bring you two awesome opportunities to play new games early. EA Access trials for NHL 15 and FIFA 15 will be going live this month and we want to give you the details on what to expect. All EA Access members will get six hours with each game, and as always, you will be able to play each game five days before the release date.
NHL 15 will be coming to you this Thursday, so get ready to take the ice! Explore all of the modes and features and catch up with player ratings.
You can spend your time in FIFA 15 and NHL 15 however you like. If you decide to buy either of them, your Achievements and progress will carry over, and you’ll save 10% with your membership.

Looks like this is coming to PS4 after it briefly appeared on the Brazilian PSN and is now found in the Access source code.
Officially Announced, Coming July 2019https://www.ea.com/ea-access/ps4Today, Electronic Arts Inc. announced that it is bringing EA Access to the PlayStation 4 system. Starting this July, players can sign-up for a monthly subscription (MSRP $4.99), or an annual subscription (MSRP $29.99) through PlayStation Store. With the addition of the PlayStation 4 console to the already existing membership services on Xbox One and PC via Origin, EA now offers its subscription services on more platforms than any other publisher.
“As we continue to invest in digital and subscription services, bringing great games to even more players across more platforms is an exciting opportunity for everyone,” said Matt Bilbey, Executive VP of Strategic Growth. “Our goal is to give players more choice to try and play our games wherever and however they choose, and we’re happy to bring EA Access to PlayStation 4.”
Membership in EA Access lets players experience Play First Trials, where they can play up to 10 hours of most new EA games. Subscribers also enjoy a 10% discount on full game purchases, expansions, in-game items and more. Additionally, players can jump into a growing library of EA games, including the best of EA with franchises like Battlefield, EA Sports FIFA, Star Wars Battlefront and more.
