Yeah, sucks. Hard to say if he was any good anymore but we don't have much depth at nose tackle. Fortunately we play like 80% of the time in nickel D without a NT anyway.

Terms of his "NFL probation" stemming from a DUI in 2011. Was initially a 1-year suspension ala Josh Gordon for being a multiple offender.

Prater has been in the NFL's alcohol program since August 2011, when he was arrested and charged with DUI. According to Steinberg, the league initially wanted to suspend Prater for an entire season, but that was negotiated down to four games.
