Had a terrible 24 man seize before calling it a night; a huge mistake in hindsight. Had 3 tanks total, 2 of which were in defensive stance (grit/defiance) and were uncooperative in helping in anything at all. At one point, adders were swarming a point near our cave spawn, and we wanted to prevent takeover. So as we're slowly dying because nothing seems to be killed, I noticed 3 little markers at the previous upper hill spot we claimed: the 3 gimp stooges decided to stand up there and watch us as we die. The 5 who were fighting literally got pushed back to the bottom of the hill/lowground where they can literally jump down and assist. We just flat out get overwhelmed.

I just left so I didn't have to eat a 3rd place loss, which seemed to work. Stupid tome-grubbing casuals be ruining my pvp experience!

ARC/BRD/MCH can cast LB on ground instead of target (or at least, they could at 3.0 release).

I found this out when I tried to LB a boss as the opener and I was too far away.

Tried my first round as SMN in Seal Rock. Holy shit. Mash buttons and get kills.

Sucks when you're doing well but lose because 5-8 assholes can't understand "don't feed kills to Adders". I like that deaths lose points. I don't like being on the same team as people who don't care.

I might have to level SMN 50-60 for PvP. I always target them 1st on DRG, no telling when that Tri-Disaster + Fester is coming or you take an Akh Morn to the face lol.

the key to not getting owned by a smn is to just have good healers. one decent heal and that's the end of it lol

I like the new kill priority for most people now, its funny how SMN is number 1 on kill priority before healers

SMN is definitely worth lvling for seal rock, enjoy the good shit while it lasts cause I'm sure there's gonna be lots of nerfs/fixes with seal rock, just like the nerfs with WD/Secure/Slaughter

Any tips for a high priority skill to secure killshots aside from obviously Deathflare? You know, the shit where Mercy Stroke or Halone pretty much never killshot because they take forever to resolve. Ruin2 is a little average. I think Painflare also resolves pretty fast.

Hell, asking for any job. I know I used to spam Scathe on BLM for this.

    kinda want to fraps something but keep being too lazy and don't have enough space. not sure i want people to see me kill steal 20 times a game anyway '-';;;;;;;;;

anyway, a few things i do:

    - remember how you'd have a firestarter proc waiting and you'd normal cast fire 1 then spam the fire 3 immediately after? kind of like doubling up your cast? i do that with ruin 3 > ruin 2. but this i really only do if i'm in good position, i am not being targeted, and it's lots of my team vs 1 guy.

    - people think deathflare is the shit. it is. but painflare is better. i'd put it on par with feint as far as animation speed. if i think i can kill a dude with fester, i fester. if i am reasonably sure i can painflare a dude to death, i wait a bit for his hp to drop then i do that instead, like 9/10 times. if i need two of them to take a guy down i fester > pain so the damage is stacked up more closely together.

    - if i know someone's gonna die but they have a little too much HP and i have no charges (they need 2-3 ruin 2's to die) i'll bio then spam ruin 2. sometimes the extra dot tick helps me get the kill.

    - getting a shadowflare on top of a miasma 2 on a flag when you have nothing better to do (no charges, no tri, nothing else worth aoeing) surprisingly nets me a lot of kills. i'd never do that though if i had better shit to do cause it takes too long and miasma 2 can be risky.

honestly i don't think there will be a nerf. i don't really see a lot of people make use of it the way it should be used. i always screenshot every match i play and the top scores have a lot more job and kill variance in them compared to say, slaughter, where almost every top score was blm.

You know I never thought about it and haven't used it yet but it just occurred to me that The Warden's Paean might actually be usable in PvP. Has anyone been using it / got experience with it? I didn't even have it on my hotbar so it only just occurred to me that it might block shit like stun / sleep / bind.

Bit foggy, but morale doesn't have much purpose in large scale pvp right? The new sets being i180, but scaled back to the i150 sync seems kinda weird too...pretty much just law/hunt time savers in that case right?

Morale works, the effects are just really, really minor.

Your gear is still scaled up. I don't remember what i180 PvP's morale is but if it's +30, it's basically 210 gear. This means that both secondaries will probably be capped, instead of one capped and one mostly-capped, in i150 sync.

Granted, I don't know by how much compared to 180/190 regular gear because it's literally like a pinch of a secondary per slot.

The description is a bit hazy in my opinion and is open to a bit of interpretation.

"While in PvP areas, item level increases an amount equivalent to current Morale rating" could mean that it increases in iLVL from the current sync, effectively making an i180 piece synced to i150 with +30 morale an i180 piece with the appropriate stats on it.

I say this because if morale just bumped it up to straight i210, wouldn't it just be cut down to i150 when in Frontlines? Seems pointless to me.

Not that morale has made any sense after Frontlines came out anyway lol.

correct that's what happens. at best, in frontlines, it helps bring up your secondary stats to cap.

morale is mostly going to be something for uncapped WD when it's redone as a lvl 60 thing.

idk about anyone else, but the majority of the time, the team who starts out in cave area tends to have a fairly higher chance of winning than other starting areas

I'd agree with that. The cave seems easier to defend as it has a lot of raised points / tight funnel areas. Plus the way the map is laid out makes it more likely that people will fight in the other areas (seems to encourage fighting around the camps plus coastal area imo). So it's less likely to be attacked for 2 seperate reasons.

the cave has the most favorable positions. three spots that are elevated make it very easy.
