Be very careful about leaving two factions to fight unchecked for too long. If one gets too fat and continues to steamroll the other, you can lose quickly, as battle fever kills award 20 points. That shit stacks up quickly, even if the other team has 0 data.

We lost a game tonight we had full control of for most of the game, due to excellent A spawns in home territory, but adder continued to kick mael's ass so hard that they gained roughly 400 of their 800 points through bloodshed alone, and all that battle fever LB spam made it very, very hard to break through them, even with no one dying.

PLD Life in Seal Rock: Turn on Shield Oath. Protect yourself. SS yourself. Run headfirst into an enemy node, pop Rampart, begin stunning and blinding everything in sight while laughing insanely. Occasionally press Sentinel and Hallowed. Forget your team won't follow you to node and push out from the inside. Die. Rinse. Repeat.

Time to level BRD and SMN.

PLD really isn't awful with burst if you plan it properly. Particularly in groups, I'll begin a Royal Authority combo on one player, find someone with a little bit of HP missing, apply our PVP damage debuff on them and unload. RA, Spirit's Within, whatever our knockback attack is(200 pot when upgraded), and some shield bashing. If you're including the knockback attack in your burst, be aware of where you're going to push them so you can start moving in that direction during it(or aim them at a wall if available)

It's no Fell Cleave, but my killstreaks can get pretty impressive

I haven't done the new PvP (or any PvP lately) but when I brought PLD a handful of times to Secure/Slaughter it was surprisingly fun and effective.

No one bothers to target you because you're the hardest to kill and most PLDs in PvP are full VIT thinking they're tanks and run around being generally non-threatening.

For much of the matches you can run around stunlocking everyone with relative impunity and occasionally bursting down some unsuspecting mage.

It's kind of funny how you can accrue "natural" aggro with your behavior as PLD, run around Shield Bashing everyone with that nice 4s stun and eventually people get pissed and try and focus you down, swap to Shield oath and pop some cooldowns and run them around a bit, even if they're successful the amount of time and resources spent killing you is far more than it would take to kill one of your healers/DPS and while they're wasting their time on you the rest of your team is free to do whatever.

Also Glory Slash is fucking awesome for knocking off ledges, the knockback is further than Mythril Tempest (and the recast is shorter) and I think people just generally forget that PLD has it.

I mean really the main nuisance a PLD can cause is either locking down a healer or protecting your own. It always dumbfounds me when I see the parties healer be zerged down whilst tanks are off doing not a lot. It's not glamorous but stunning and blinding the people zerging down your healer gives the healer breathing room, especially if you only have the one.

Irritating the shit out of the enemy healer is also a great benefit. There was an encounter last night where we were dominating in defending a node. Then everything was turned on it's head because someone ran in > stunned our healer > knockback off the cliff. The healer survived the fall but by the time they could get back up, several people were dead.

It's pretty annoying how a lot of people don't like to push or know when to push, too many people is deadset on defending only, and a lot of times this is why we end up losing cause we don't push the winning teams. Sure, defending is cool and all, but lots of times you have to make pushes to win games, yet no one can still grasp this and its annoying as fuck, they know that deaths makes us lose points, but yet they don't fucking understand kills also reward us points and lowers the enemy points as well.

There has been games where we'd be like 620 points, and Mael would be at like 770 for example, one game we pushed their shit in so hard they dropped to 602 standing, and we ended up winning, if we had just sat on our asses defending like all these retards think is the only way to win matches, we would've obviously lost.

For those on other GCs/data centers, I hope you guys don't have someone like we do on adders who has a certain skill(s)/LB(I assume it's LB), macro that spams the fuck out of alliance chat, I know whenever I get this guy in my party I try to convince my group to vote kick him, shit is way too annoying seeing for the whole duration of a match.

Its a coin flip at times, Tobi: sometimes pushing the winner works and they die admist the pincer and lose a ton of points. Sometimes pushing them DOESN'T work because they all have battle fever by virture of, well, WINNING, and turn around and chain LB your shit into the ground, soaking up 20 points a kill, especially if one attempts to "push" them while they're in a chokepoint.

Shit is situational. There's a time and a place for everything, and judgement calls are just that.

lol i'm sure you've seen me rage pretty hard at idiots like this. like one time the score was 700 to 500/500 and i call for push and people are like DEFEND. like what the fuck, use your god damn brain.

Yeah, I know all too well, that's why I said "or know when to push". Majority of the time though we have to push, cause usually at that point, just defending isn't gonna cut when a winning team is reaching near already, like the example I gave. Most people don't even expect a full alli push due to the fact rarely anyone does it. Mael or Flames seem to push each other a lot though when I look at the map sometimes, at least more than what adders will try to do. My main point though was that alot of times, people won't even try to make an attempt to do so when we need to.

yea, exactly. It's shit like this that makes it so annoying, when a good push at the right time can easily turn the match around to our favor.

Most people are incapable of adapting. The vast majority are either going to be of the mindset 'Always defend' or 'Mindlessly push and don't defend'. You'll get a few who know when to switch but it's mob mentality and you're controlled by what the majority want to do as it's hard to be effective in low numbers.

It's worse when people are like 'Don't chase! Don't chase!' and there's some guy at like 20% HP who you can drop by chasing about 30 yalms outside your base. Then they get pissy at you even though you killed without taking any damage.

Another annoyance is 'Let the fight amongst themselves!'. Viable a lot of time but it's generally worth sending a small group who have no intention of getting the node, just picking off a few kill. Most of the time when people are in an all out way, they completely ignore the third group coming in and dropping a few people then retreating.

A lot of people seem to understand you lose points for dying but don't realise you get points for killing too.

yeah it's insane, right? they know you don't feed but somehow cannot process that you drain points into your own score total.

I'm pretty sure 20 points are given for killing someone that has battle fever, not when someone with battle fever kills someone without it.

My general rules for push/defend are:

    - if you have a 300+ point lead, defend
    - if you have 3 or more nodes, defend
    - if you have < 200 point lead but have equal or greater nodes than #2, defend
    - if you are trailing the leader by less than what the leader needs to gain to win and you have node advantage, defend
    - all other cases, push

This is why I love MNK in PVP. Target someone at low health, rush them deep into their camp, pop fetter ward, drop them, sprint out, Second Wind + Recouperate @ low health, and touch down back into your team. Feel good internally. Always have Fists of Wind up.

I love doing this on DRG as well. Chase them in, target a healer while running, pop Fetter Ward and Dragonfire Dive, Stun + LB, Elusive Jump out and pop Sprint/Second Wind/Recouperate/Invigorate to escape.

Maybe it's because I'm a BRD where it's easy to do damage chasing but generally if I chase someone down, I don't care if they have their healing shit up, they are still going to die unless they aren't far away from their healer/base

EDIT: Just lost to a back to back Mael groups who won purely because Flames would not leave us alone at all. First Mael win had 5 kills, 22 deaths. Second had 4 kills, 0 deaths. I personally killed more people than the entire Mael team in each game

EDIT2: Happened for a 3rd game in a row, wtf. It's like this shit is being planned at this point

Don't worry, I've had games where Flames decided it's their sole purpose in life just to fuck Adders over, no matter how utterly retarded attacking our bases would be.

TFW you killshot somebody with a weapon throw. Had a slightly intense tussle over a node, and some mnk was being a bit cheeky. Managed to drop him near death until an adloq got him. Mercy stroke > him putting distance between us. Figured I may as well so I weapon throw'd his ass and managed to crit him for like 200-300 or something and kill him. Was glorious.

Also had a game where the team thought it was beyond over, so we just ran around stalking people for kills. Turns out nodes were spawning extremely favorably for us, and we managed to pincer a team and farm their spawn for points. This same team was literally 600 points and we were below 100. Eventually the end reaches the climax and our momentum just couldn't be stopped, winning us the game.

    Spoiler: show

Okay, so I read some real confusing BS from folks today. What does Morale do now exactly? Is it worth wearing the new PvP gear in PvP over Eso?

Morale adds directly to an item's iLV in PvP. An i180 item with Morale+30 is i210 in PvP areas.

Of course, since Seal Rock is iLV-capped at i150, that doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Ultimately, the choice as to what gear to use comes down to secondary stats; avoid accuracy.
