i've tried to lead the maelstrom to victory on aether... it's fucking impossible. the people never stay together, are slow to move and react, cannot adapt, and are full of people that cry out "don't pvp in pvp!" when we have no points and it would be more than advantageous to go into battle.

if i had a dime for every time someone shouted out not to attack or fight anyone, i'd have a lot of damned dimes.

just waiting for a friend to get to 50 to see if he wants to switch with me. i've actually just stopped pvping for right now because there's nothing fun about losing every match you queue for in the same way. they'll attack the adders, probably wipe them or wipe to them, then proceed to lose to the flames. every. time.

lol i've slowly been trying to counter that mentality. every time i zone in i go over the simple rules, tell people we need to attack sometimes when the time is right, and people who say DEFENSE ONLY are shit and terrible at the game.

they're definitely shit; the other issue being they never fail to be the loudest. shouting and directing everyone else to be just as shit as they are.

it's a vicious cycle. new people come in, do a few matches while seeing that shit, and they've already been misled beyond hope.

Defense only criers are those who have been pincered one time too many and have twisted the counter-logic to the extreme. Its not about defending constantly, its about defending until the other factions are clashing, then pincering the leading faction and claiming the spoils.

The hardest part about the game, IMO, is convincing a full 23 other people (whoever isn't in your premade, really) to fall back and give up a node to allow for you to pincer them soon after and reap the rewards.

Lol this guy. If I had the time to set-up my pre-mades again like in my Secure days, I'd have people defecting off Flames to be apart of that wrecking crew. Good players in my shell.

Just got my lv60 SMN and I need some advice:
1. Should I ever use Ifrit for it's stun? I find this a little too slow as Ifrit needs to move to the target and the stun also take some animation to apply.
2. What should/could I do when Aetherflow is on CD?

i just use garuda cause enkindle is a lot better on that than ifrit. when aetherflow isn't ready you can put triple dots up if charges are close to coming up, you can spam tri disaster, you can put shadowflare down on nodes, you can look for low hp targets and try to ruin 2 them down, etc.

Call it whatever you'd like. If everyone goes to Flames, nobody PVPs. People picked their GCs: stick with em through thick and thin. Lord knows the Flames have had plenty of fail trains.

Set it up, please. If it gets more Mael and Adder back to their rightful GCs so everyone has fast queues, more power to ya.

You mean tri-bind? Since tri-disaster has a huge cooldown.

Tri Disaster is only a minute cooldown, majority of the time when you need to use it again, it'll either already be up, or close to being it, just like aetherflow, even more so if there's lots of downtime.

I'd love to but current life makes it very difficult to manage something like that right now.

1 minute cooldown means you can't spam it

mainly referring to the "huge ass cooldown" part, as one minute isn't really huge, compared to other skills that are longer than a minute. I guess our opinions on huge cooldowns vastly differ.

I got DRG all leveled up and kinda spiffed for frontlines. Though, after a quick match and going 2/3 I quickly learned I don't have a clue of how or when to engage someone (And even then grabbing the kill). Obviously practice makes perfect, but does anyone have pointers or know of a post/thread/reddit/godknowswhatelse that might give some pointers.

The only time I ever get killed by solo DRGs is when they do Stun > LB. Granted I tend to lurk in the back.

I would think the best practice on DRG is either to team-up against people and stun them, they're probably dead before the unstun. Or to annoy mages. Or to isolate people away from the pack.
