Sleipnir Barding kinda looks heavy-armor ish.
Sleipnir Barding kinda looks heavy-armor ish.
Looked a lot darker than normal PLD metal to me, similar to Darklight.

edit: in case it's unclear, PLD barding was the gear I originally saw.
Defender tree barding.
....is the PLD barding.
Hey guys, I think it's the PLD barding.
Someone makes a post about making R11+ chocobos stronger to which a dev comes in with the usual SE style NOPE!
To which we get R20 guy still having absolutely no idea what he's talking about 2 replies laterFor Companion Chocobo’s Rank 11 and onward the system was designed so that your companion's stats do not increase, but instead that you increase them by adding skill points and we don’t have any plans at the moment to enhance them. This is because we'd like to keep this as content that is for players that enjoy the companion system instead of making it critical to get a companion to rank 20.
As I said in my thread about my rank 20, it hits as hard as my i101 bard and can hold threat off him for a period of time. They definitely get way stronger.
should take one to a dummy and check its DPS, i bet it does outdo some crappy i100+ players, iv seen a i110(wep) drg do just over 200 on garuda EX, I know there is jumping but come on.
I did recently and it was showing anywhere from 30 to 60 depending on stance, but after parsing some coil and EX primals not long ago, I'm pretty sure I fucked a setting in ACT somewhere. Unless we're killing shit with top dps only doing < 200, but I doubt that's actually happening.
The only things that will increase your damage outside of the Attacker tree are the 2 5% STR boosts from Defender and the 2 Crit hit traits from Defender/Healer (combined, effectively a ~7% crit rate increase).
So no, your choco will not become some DPS powerhouse under any circumstances, I'd be surprised to see one break 50 DPS (idk what the increase from ATK food is tho).
I tested it myself before/after I bought my chocos first crit trait but for the life of me I can't remember what thread I posted the info in, wasn't this one tho.
I was bored and decided to go sic my choco on a test dummy to get a better idea of their damage potential, when I mentioned in an earlier post that I didn't think chocos could break 50dps I was speaking in reference to Korial's parses from the last page:
....which I now realize was wonky as hell in one way or another, maybe his parse settings or....something. Because my choco was parsing way higher at R10.

Attacker
Defender
It's worth noting that chocos don't use skills intelligently, even when confined to a single stance (shocker, I know). Mine was using Choco Beak several times in a row, clipping the DoT effect by a ton. Also worth noting that ACT undervalued the DoT ticks at 18dmg when they were actually 24-25, which is why the Attacker came out behind the Defender I suppose (that and it not using Choco Beak properly).
Since there's no DoT to approximate in Defender stance and the Choco is limited to just spamming Choco Drop (same potency as Strike), the Defender parse is more accurate.
edit:
Also, since idk where my last post about choco crit rate was buried, the Defender parse showed a 15% crit rate over 336 attacks which is in the expected ballpark of having [341 * 1.3 = 443] crit rate given the fairly small sample size (expected value would be closer to 12.5%)
Yeah I don't know what's wrong with my ACT but it's all kinds of broken. I'll reinstall later and see what I can do with it, though I don't know what I could possibly change to make it lose so much dps.
Edit: It looks as though it's not picking up any auto attack damage of any kind.
