We're doing a 2,000 mile road trip, leaving Oregon on the 25th, seeing the Beavs play USC on the 27th, meandering some roads yet TBD until Boulder on the 4th, then back to Oregon by the 7th. If you have time to grab a burger and beer in Boulder the day of the game or the day before, I would probably be up for that, assuming I can talk my girlfriend into coming out of the marijuana botiques.

Can't actually consume anything at the stores, so shouldn't be too hard hehe.

I'll send ya a pm when I know for sure what the family will be doing that day

edit: also new trail ridge road in RMNP should still be open at that point, it can be intimidating and I wouldn't recommend it if there's any heavy snow by then, but it's also bugling season for the elk so it's pretty epic that time of year, if you're looking for a great drive

If you're coming in to Boulder from I-70, you can basically jump off at 40 to Granby/Grand lake, which is about an hour and a half, then you can either stay a night there or drive straight through RMNP on trail ridge into Estes Park, which is about another 2 hours. Estes is an awesome place to stay, and then from Estes you'd basically be making the opposite drive I'll be making to get back down to boulder, which is about an hour or 2 from Estes.

If you're looking for some nice drives, that's an excellent way to turn 30 minutes on I-70 and another major highway into a few hours or days up high.

While attending a family social function at his cousin's apartment in his hometown of Palmdale, Shaw looked on from a second floor balcony to the pool below and saw his 7-year-old nephew, who cannot swim, in distress without help nearby. Shaw instinctively leaped off the balcony, landing painfully on the concrete below.

He was able to crawl into the pool and ushered his nephew to safety. Despite the intense pain in his legs, he was then able to grab the ladder and lift himself out of the pool with his upper body.

USC coach Steve Sarkisian says the story of Josh Shaw saving his drowning nephew might be false and will be vetted by the university.

USC senior cornerback Josh Shaw has admitted to lying about how he suffered his ankle injuries last weekend and has been suspended indefinitely, the school said in a statement Wednesday.

Shaw said he suffered a pair of high ankle sprains Saturday night after jumping from the second story of an apartment complex to save his 7-year-old nephew, who was struggling in the pool. Shaw said his nephew did not know how to swim.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian said Tuesday the school received several calls questioning the authenticity of Shaw's story and had been investigating the matter.

"We are extremely disappointed in Josh," Sarkisian said in the statement. "He let us all down. As I have said, nothing in his background led us to doubt him when he told us of his injuries, nor did anything after our initial vetting of his story.

"I appreciate that Josh has now admitted that he lied and has apologized. Although this type of behavior is out of character for Josh, it is unacceptable. Honesty and integrity must be at the center of our program. I believe Josh will learn from this. I hope that he will not be defined by this incident, and that the Trojan Family will accept his apology and support him."

The school did not specify in its statement how Shaw actually sustained his injuries.

Not a good week for Southern Cal and Sark:

Anthony Brown: Can't play for a racist

    Updated: August 28, 2014, 5:01 PM ET
    By Arash Markazi | ESPNLosAngeles.com

LOS ANGELES -- USC senior running back Anthony Brown, who quit the team a week ago, called head coach Steve Sarkisian a racist Thursday.

Brown posted on Instagram on Thursday morning, "Sark treated me like a slave in his Office...Can't play for a racist MAN!!!!! #Fighton" and posted a similar message on Facebook.

    The posts were later deleted.

Sarkisian, who revealed that Brown had quit the team last Thursday, said he was blindsided by the comments and said Brown never expressed any of those feelings to him when the coach met with him earlier this week.

"As far as what [Brown] said on Twitter, I think it's ridiculous," Sarkisian said. "Any of you guys that know me and if you ask anybody in our building, any of our players -- feel free to -- that's about the furthest thing from the truth. Quite honestly, I'm shocked."

Brown did not mention specifics about why he felt this way or what might have occurred between him and Sarkisian.

He has been sidelined most of training camp with a hyperextended elbow and was listed as the sixth running back on the depth chart after switching over from cornerback earlier this month.

"Anthony decided not to play football anymore," Sarkisian said. "We obviously tried to encourage him not to quit. We thought he could be an asset to our team, especially when healthy. We really tried to make it a point to accommodate the position change he wanted. He wanted to move to running back and we did so.

"He unfortunately got injured in training camp and was working his way back and decided he didn't want to play anymore. It's a bit unfortunate because we could have used him. We think he could have helped us."

Brown had six starts and 43 tackles during his USC career. He saw action in only two games at cornerback last season after suffering ankle injuries against Hawaii and Notre Dame.

"I had encouraged him to play. I wanted him to play. I didn't want him to quit," Sarkisian said. "I thought he could get healthy. ... I didn't want him to quit. I wanted him to come back and play and he chose not to."

Brown's departure and accusation comes on the heels of Josh Shaw being suspended indefinitely after lying about how he suffered two high ankle sprains last weekend.

"I've got over 100 guys in that locker room that are more important or just as important than these two isolated incidents," Sarkisian said. "I owe it to those guys to do the best job that I can do to prepare our staff and to prepare them to play a great football game on Saturday, and that's what my focus is on."

I didn't get to watch the game because I was at work, but from the highlights I saw, SC's defense looked like trash (not saying Hill is bad, but it looked like a lot of wide open receivers). Should I jump on the Hill hype train?
