Yeah but it opens up slots for rapid shot, I need to find an updated preshot set with new gear. Mind posting your preshot set? I haven't really updated RNG gear in awhile (since when DM2 was relevant).

I haven't updated in awhile either like was working on it right before alluvion 2 came out and shat on a bit on things I was getting. Right now it's just aurore head +1, af3+2 body, skirmish hands+1 with 1 snapshot, mirador legs+1, alluvion feet with 4 snapshot and impulse belt. So a total of 30 from gear or 50 when you count in vs and merits. Enough to cap with flurry 2 not quite enough to cap with just flurry unless I get more jp.
Part of why I doubt I'd ever try to get 10 snapshot on each slot besides of course having to make a 4th set of taeon just for 1 job (muh invent space though I suppose with new af3 stuff might not need full sets for some of the things) is all that money on dusk would be crazy unless it comes down a lot. Plus it being overkill even if not getting flurry I (10 on each of those slots + merits + VS alone + gifts + belt/back would be 11 over the cap)
Also kind of considering maybe making a rapid/snap shot+RFAF3 build. Testing shows that rapid shot wont really do much at those high of snapshots but set procs would be nice. With flurry 2 should be able to cap snapshot with full rfaf3+1 though you'd get no +rapid shot in the process so almost seems hardly worth the effort. Honestly almost seems best to get just enough to cap with flurry I and spend more time working on ws and mid shot sets
So they have apparently changed the mob distributions in Yorcia Alluvion. Did a sword run and there were no single elementals at all, just dual elementals, twitherym, and a new mob: fluterini, which were aggressive, only had like 1500 hp, but took drastically reduced magic damage.
Well I guess that's what they meant by "The types of monsters present in a skirmish now vary more strongly with the type of Eudaemon used to enter." Wonder what the other ones do
Also wonder what exactly they meant by "If a player has used a eudaemon sash to gain entry, they may use motes of puissance to enhance their pets."
Using eudaemon rings still spawned a lot of eles for a run of mine since update, so at least those might be safe for BLM/nuker strat.
Yeah, they majorly changed the mobs depending on eudaemon used.Nuke-heavy parties will be in for a very unpleasant surprise using sword. There are still elementals, but it's like 10% elementals 90% butterflies. Ring is mostly elementals with a few butterflies. Not sure about sash/shield/cape mobs since I haven't done those since update.
Kind of a clever way to give more party flexibility, since you can now choose the eudaemon that gives mobs favorable to your party setup. BLU still dominates though, due to being able to melee and use powerful magic to eliminate eles. I did change my spell loadout a bit though for sword runs, mainhanding a sword instead of 2x MAB clubs, and setting more DD traits.
The new single butterfly type mob (as opposed to twitherym swarm) does aggro, and it hits fairly hard.
Well, I expect most people who care more about stone farming and general shouts to just switch to sword eudaemon with 1 book, 1 nuke, 4 melees. Which if anything is a little annoying to people with primarily mage jobs who are gonna get more excluded. But at least there's still a slot for a nuke in any setup, and the possibility of nuke-focused runs with ring (and maybe cape and sash?).
And still, it has been a rare occasion in the entirety of FFXI to have an event actually customizable to a completely different mix of jobs. That's pretty refreshing.
Also related... if people are farming for stones right now, they're probably more focused on Cirdas/Rala anyway for more valuable dusk. So letting Yorcia become more accessible to non-mages so they can fill out gear is a good thing in my eyes. Not that a melee couldn't contribute before, but it was certainly more limited to maybe 1 butterfly killer (2 max), or a book player.
I will say that I've started paying more attention to keeping Occultation up on BLU lol (and setting Restoral, which I didn't even bother with before). Big butterfly did get me the first time I encountered it, but now I know what to expect - and mages should know to get the hell away from it![]()
Who doesnt have ONE melee job and ONE mage job available? Its not like Escalents are lv125 mobs and you need top tier gear to deal damage to them.
I'd rather farm yorcia myself. yeah might be better money in rala/cirdas but I'm going for dusk despite it's crappy rate
My WHM BLM (and lame RDM SCH) mule, that I still like to keep geared?
Also, just conceptually Skirmish was always intended to be more casual-friendly for the people who might NOT care as much about staying as hardcore geared as those of us doing things like posting on BG forums. There are plenty of those kinds of people with, say, melee only jobs. Or only bothered to keep 1-2 jobs with ilevel gear. Or who haven't been around fulltime since Adoulin. This is, frankly, the one current event really made for those kinds of people - so I don't really love making the event overly job restrictive.
And remember, this wasn't even the players deciding an "optimal" strategy and making it a de facto requirement, but original design Alluvion Yorcia skirmish was different - it really did basically require magic damage by design, locking out a good 2/3 of the jobs in the game. Yeah, you can have anybody do book and a single DD... but when I'm helping some not quite as "elite" players who have DD jobs only, it's nice to be able to force a run that allows them to be more helpful.
I'd rather farm Yorcia too, but just because I find the event a lot more fun than any of the other skirmishes.
But if you're shooting for most efficient way of getting dusk stones... I'd think selling snows from Rala/Cirdas and just buying your dusks would end up netting you more than the awful drop rate in Yorcia along with much less profitable leaf stones. Maybe I'm wrong, but I kinda doubt it.
Personally, I'm not going overboard on dusk for now anyway. Seems so likely that there will just be an Alluvion Skirmish phase 3 with dusk as the common drop, so I'm fine tossing a small number of dusk stones at my stuff to get something at least acceptable to hold me over, but waiting on really trying to spam. Better things to do with my gil. In the meantime I'll work on getting everything I want from Leaf/Snow set.
Probably depends on server and supply. I've noticed dusk supply isn't hot enough on bahamut that you can buy more than a couple (or sometimes none) before everything up isn't higher than the going price often by a lot unless you ah bot so I'd rather just add to the supply/farm my own than take away from the limited supply and help jack the price. Plus like you said it's just more fun and something to get some until they hopefully release a zone where the droprate doesn't suck.
And yeah my mules only have mage jobs really (though whm and brd still would probably get a nod) and want to keep on those gears/ gearing up bst on them for some fun times tribox pets
yea, dusk supply just dropped like a rock. everyone is into the new shiny (vagary) atm.
Did a few hexabox alluvion yorcia yesterday first time since update, even saw Pink Acuex and boss floor but Almost zero dusk drops across all chars, just leafs /grumble. Hopefully I'm just unlucky and the rates weren't nerfed.
If we're lucky outer Ra'k will drop all three types just like normal outer Ra'k dropped all three types decently, something reliable we can spam to cap out on.
Or a fourth as well, idk.
If they want to keep all Alluvion relevant, they're gonna make Ra'kaz drop Dusk as common and something else as rare.
That way Rala/Cirdas if you wanna farm Snow, Yorcia if u wanna farm Leaf and Ra'kaz if you wanna farm Dusk.
Going to bet ra'k will drop Dusk/Snow
Since I think a 4th type of stone is unlikely (would make a lot of gear too powerful I'm afraid) that's my guess as well, stamos.
I'd like if Ra'Kaznar Alluvion was common dusk/rare snow and occasionally gave a consumable KI that lets you trade augmented item -> pick snow/leaf/dusk slot -> rerolls that slot as if you used a +2 stone, but doesn't change the type of augment it currently is.
Or maybe there will be a 4th stone that only gives non-combat stats like CP+
