Hmm. So, my first attempt didn't go well. After talking to lola then oston then lola, I traded the 3 segments and an eudaemon ring to oston and nothing happened.

Oston only mentions needing the 3 segments. So, I traded him the 3 segments and got a similacrum. Clicking on the augural conveyor in yorcia weald allowed me to enter skirmish. There is a cantonment in front of me. Clicking it does nothing. Then I was swarmed and killed after a couple of minutes. Afterward, I still have the eudaemon ring in my inventory.

When/where/how does the eudaemon item get used?

I did not see a waypoint. Maybe I didn't make it to the first floor. Is there an NPC that I interact with? How do I summon Valiants? Where is a marchland?

If his wife is Lola, I did. Or, do you mean after getting the similacrum and before entering skirmish?

First she says she doesn't know what I would want to talk to her for. Then Oston describes skirmish, refers to needing 3 items and gil and suggests talking to Lola. Then Lola describes skirmish. Then I traded 4 items to Oston and nothing happened. I traded Yorcia Visage Torso and Legs to Oston and got a similacrum.

Gotta talk to them a bunch. First rule of rpgs talk to the related npcs bunches until they don't say anything new

    From wiki:

    Assembling Eudaemon

To participate, only the party leader will need to assemble a Eudaemon key item. Similar to the original Skirmish it is comprised of three Simulacrum Segments, one from each of three categories: Visage, Torso, and Legs. In addition, one Eudaemon item must be traded with the Simulacrum Segments.

After obtaining one of each type of Simulacrum Segment,

What you need: Visage(Rala/Cirdas), Faithful Torso, Faithful Legs, and an Eudaemon Item

    1. Obtain a Eudaemon Item.

    2. Talk to Lola. You may need to talk to her twice.

    3. Talk to Oston.

Now trade all three Simulacrum Segments and a Eudaemon Item to Oston in Eastern Adoulin to receive a Eudaemon Key Item for a small gil fee.

The fee varies depending on the type of Eudaemon Item traded in small increasing intervals of gil.

Wasted attempt #2... Both my posts refer to me talking to Lola twice and didn't result in me entering alluvian skirmish. So, that is not very useful information. Apparently, you talk to each alternately until Oston refers to wanting 4 pieces.

Once you get into the alluvian skirmish. I'm supposed to be able to summon Valiants some how. No clue. When you enter, there is a book. It describes Valiants but not how you summon them. Going on to the first floor, there is a marchland object. Clicking it does nothing. Close by there is Noetic ascension. Clicking it allows you acquire puissance. So, great, doing that got me 20 motes of puissance... Which does what? No clue. Then I fought one of the near by escalents, the marchland was destroyed and I was ejected.

How do I summon valiants? Any advice that is specific?

I had read that. But, it sounds like what I missed is that there is a book on each floor as well as the area before the first floor, which I should have found. So, on my next attempt I'll look for the book, I think I didn't look behind me. Hopefully, it will be obvious how to use obsidian fragments to buy initial puissance and summon valiants using the book.

I don't find a reference to motes of puissance. What are those?

The book will be a green dot on the compass when you go to the next floor (unless you get sent to a random spot on the map, which happens once in a while). The book is pretty self explanatory in its menu when you click on it. You don't have to use obsidian fragment to buy puissance, but it sure does make the skirmish easy.

The article mentions the purpose of puissance several times, and your own post shows that you already know what it's for, so I'm not sure why you're asking what they're for again.

Think he's just confused why they are sometimes referred to as "motes of puissance" as opposed to just "puissance", like how there's "ampoules of therion ichor" or just "ichor". "Motes" doesn't refer to anything different, it's all puissance.

Motes is just a unit of measure for puissance

Knowing how the battle works, it is then easy to look at the wiki page and see how it is describing what you did. Having going through the process with Osten and Lola, it is easy to look back and see how the wiki is describing what you did. The other way around was not obvious to me.

I didn't know if puissance is an item that you have or a buff or key item, etc. You "operate" the book. In what way? I didn't know that there was a different book in the "lobby" and on the first floor. So, I didn't know to look for it and thought I hadn't figured out how to operate the first book.

Today was my 4th failed attempt. I learn a little bit more each time. If you exchange obsidian shards for puissance at the start, you can only do it once. So, I only used 1000 shards and was ejected before finishing the first escalent. Since I am doing this solo, either I suck or I certainly can't get enough puissance with a faithful leg 1 by killing escalents before the marchland is demolished. So, next time I will spend 4000 shards and summon many valiants and a sijin and see if that works.

As someone who only started doing Alluvion about a week ago, I will agree with the idea that it's a bit confusing when its explained to you, especially if you rely on the needlessly convoluted in-game explanation from the book like I did on my first run.

You are limited to only trading 1000 O. Fragments into Puissance each floor, so you weren't being limited in the amount of trades, you're just capped at trading 1000 so you can't just brute force your way through by spending 10000 Fragments or whatever. You don't need to though. Get a Sash as your fourth item when making your Simulacrum and summon a Kirin Shijin the moment you enter the first floor. He'll just solo the damn floor for you- just remember you need to make the last hit on the enemy fort to actually kill it. Keep an eye on the troop info/fortress life bars in the top left corner of your screen in case you feel like running around killing Escalents.

I haven't tried the other Shijin so I don't know if they're nearly as broken, I just know with Kirin I can consistently clear 3 or more floors. A 1/1/1 shouldn't be any issue whatsoever.

Kirin summons the other 4, but the rest are fairly strong and reliable until they get overwhelmed. The enemy reinforcements get stronger the longer you're on that floor, just as you can upgrade your summons and call stronger valiants. In lieu of spending everything on a Shijin, some people also will send out a couple Colibris at the start (since they move very fast) which slows down any incoming attacks, and maybe put some Worms at the base camp.

Note also that the Eudaemon piece affects what kind of Escalents you'll get (sword or shield is heavier in butterflies, ring and cape are heavier in elementals), which might be more important for your solo than worrying about what Shijin you'll have.

I also came back recently and read the wiki and was a little confused, but I also came back with other people who happened to look up a video. It seems fairly clear how to clear, even if you don't necessarily know why. Here's a brief explanation followed by a "what we do".

The gist is the battle is a rts. Your side and the other summon mobs against each other using resources that you normally get from killing things in the area. Kill butterflies if you are physical dps, kill elementals if you are a caster. Lorissa, who spawns occasionally, is a time waste in my opinion; she only gives puissance and nothing else and its not much more than the escalents, hits hard and has like 4x the hp of the butterflies. The blob escalent is always worth it. It drops +2 gamble stones and can drop the token you exchange for gear outside of the zone. Go until one side wins. You can only win the floor if a player does the last hit of damage on the stronghold. A thing will spawn to take you to the next area until there are no more for your pop set. When you clear all the floors available to you, use the fenestral key to get the loot. Side note, if you clear a floor and then look like you will lose, use your fenestral key before you lose to get the items in your stash. Otherwise you lose the items when you lose. The key has a pretty long cast, so its a judgment call that needs to be made quickly when you notice the tides are turning against you.

All we do to win is use copper vouchers to get obsidian fragments, convert 1000 fragments to puissance at the start of each floor (you'll need 3000 to complete a torso i run), immediately summon the shijin (we use sash for kirin). Use trusts to go kill escalents for more puissance while Kirin keeps the enemy away from your marchland. With your killed-mobs puissance, summon colibris to go help kirin, then crabs when colibris are capped. Usually if your side is 4+ more mobs over the enemy's by the time kirin hits the stronghold to 75-80% remaining health, you're pretty safe for a clear. Pop all the noetics till you get full buffs, run speed seems the most helpful. Spend a little bit of time on your first floor after the stronghold is killed (or as the stronghold is dying and you are sure it will die) to look for noetics for buffs. Note that the last floor of your pop set for whatever reason seems stronger than the previous floors. So don't stop spawning valiants on the last floor till you feel safe to win.

Something you might not find on the wiki is the monster summoned by either side (ie the things you pull out of your marchland or the enemies spawned from the stronghold) automatically aggro all non players from the other side.

That means you can run the Escalents into the monsters you've summoned and they will completely overwhelm them and get puissance for you (in fact if you check youtube you can find vids of a guy using this strat to do solo runs without trusts in sparks gear).

It also means that mobs coming from the stronghold will automatically aggro all pets and I think trusts too. This means if you are bst make sure to use stay preferably before you go up and then heel when you get past the stronghold. Or if you want you can have a bst booker stick a defense pet a bit on the way to the path to give yourself a little extra time before mobs get to marchland. But a cool thing you can do is get a pup that is geared for pet tanking to go straight to the stronghold and start attack it and all the mobs summoned by it will automatically aggro it so the automatom will end up super tanking. A good pet dt set on a pup with 1200+ jp will be able to super tank a good 10-12 mobs with just light maneuvers for regen to keep up with the dmg being dealt to it. With oils should be fine with as many mobs as it can summon. This buys you tons of time so you wont have to summon mediocre faster mobs on higher floors and can go straight to say buying books that will run up and aoe everything down fast

I got distracted by reforged artifact armor but am now trying to decide which type of eudaemon item's to get with login campaign points. I mainly want dim type stones. So, if the choice of yorcia valiant is the other decision, should I prefer Suzaku or Seiryu?

Depending on how many points you got, it may be worthwhile to get something you can't get by any other means (trust, etc - although these trusts arent that great) or a gil item/items that sells for a lot and just buy multiple of the pops you want. I'd hate to see you use all your points on 100k of eudamon items when you could get an item or two that sell for 1M+ instead and have profit left over. Before a recent crash in the last day or two there was one item that was selling consistently for 1.5M for reference. Now it's down to 800k because people undercut, but you get the point.

If you're not sitting on 2-3k+ points then it may not be as profitable, but I'd still look into it. Some of the +2 'dims, etc still sell for 100k+ each.

I need to get the BLU spells from the dual eles. Can Ijust enter with a 1/3/1 and whateverthefuck eudaemon and go about my merry way after converting 1000 obsidian to puissance and just letting the shijin do all the work forever?

Or will the shijin other than Kirin get killed
