It's a life long issue you're dealing with. You got it though.

Anyone have a recommendation for a recumbent bike? My wife wants one and I have no clue where to start. When I asked her what features she wanted she's looking for something quiet, sturdy, with some preprogrammed hills kinda workouts. Nothing with the digital screen or class integrations like you'd get on a Peleton

What's your price range? Are you willing to pay for a commercial piece that has been refurbished? You'll get great features and it should be more reliable than your normal deal of Amazon or something like that.

I've used this company before with great success. Price includes shipped to your door (but you have to get it in your house): https://acefitnessequipment.com/coll...recumbent-bike

Expensive piece and big space investment or I would have grabbed one before.

For anyone buying a peloton or exercise bike I would look at the getting a low end road bike and a smart trainer. At least that's how I got into cycling and it was cheaper at the time. And you can always take that bike outside for a ride. Burning 1500 calories on Saturday morning cruise before the day starts is just free cheat meal mode.

I'm down below 175 and my target ride/race weight this year is around 165. Should be an achievable goal but I'm going to eat maintenance/slightly above for a bit. Did 30+ hours on the bike in Jan, 2x a week strength session plus deficient burned me out a bit. Tweaked my back in December doing squats and I've been dealing with some sciatic/hip pain. I was doing a set of 315 and I knew something felt off about my feet/stance but was thinking it's only 315 I'll be fine. I took a few weeks and I've been kind of just working through it.

This is great thanks. She's more leaning towards just reactivation her gym membership now instead of forcing a bike into our small ass apt but I will bookmark this for later

I need to drop some weight and get get ready to potentially enter the academy here in a short time. Diet/deficit is under control. Should I look into p90x3 or something? I was told the running was what gets most people, so yeah I'll run, and also to spend as much time in a plank position and doing pushups as possible. I have a rower, rings, and a tower for dips pull ups and leg raises.

Yeah I'd practice exactly what you need to be proficient at for your test. P90x might be a good option if you want more variety and should obv help your cardio, but idk how transferable that effort will be otherwise

If you wanted an easy cookie-cutter beachbody thing, i would go with "The Work" before P90x. I think it would transfer better to your goals.

    What kind of academy?

Our police academy we run isn't anything too bad but the scaling of the wall gets most people, men and women according to deputies and recruits I've spoken to.
Second is usually the run though but being California they do quite a bit uphill.

Obviously each area and state differs but most will allow a tour beforehand so you know what to expect.

It's weird that I'm able to finish in the top 10% (sometimes top 5%) of every Peloton ride I do. I know it's a lot of women riding but I was by no means a cardio guy coming in, I'm in my 40s and I've only been riding 2.5 months.

I don't think they have a very big competitive cycling system, considering a lot of it is following trainers. If you want to compete with other strong riders, you would want to do zwift.
