I've found that sticking to or changing your usual eating habits can lead to a greater appreciation for healthier choices, allowing you to enjoy foods you might not have liked before. For example, turkey starts to taste better when you eat it more frequently and reduce your consumption of pork and other meats. Opting for low-calorie bread, yogurt instead of sour cream, or protein ice cream can also make a difference. These healthier options may take some getting used to, but after a few weeks without junk food, they start to taste better.

Don't get me wrong, when I do have real sour cream or traditional bread, it's incredibly delicious. However, that's largely because of all the sugar and additives that enhance the flavor. Once you start cutting those out and your taste buds adjust, low-sugar foods begin to taste much better.

Ground Turkey is dry AF. Pork tastes like ass unless it's Pernil/pulled pork. If science could fix these things we wouldn't fix obesity but I'd be much happier.

Yeah diet for me is the real struggle after a lifetime of eating junk. Today after my morning workout I got Chick-fil-A breakfast but instead of my normal biscuit & hash browns I did egg white grill and fruit cup. Making small changes like this I think are making the transition into cleaner eating a bit easier for me.

Counting calories made me more likely to make better decisions. Even on days when I have the calories to spare and it wouldn't be a setback, I find myself still opting against snacks and junk because it doesn't feel like a good use of my budget.

Stir fry is my go-to meal. Takes 30-45 min to make, with enough leftover for another meal.

Chicken breast, mushrooms, 2 bell peppers, an onion, and whatever stir fry sauce you like. Make two cups of rice in the pressure cooker with it, or quinoa. If you have a real (non nyc) kitchen it's even faster. I only have 1 burner to cook on

Thor's Skyr and Iceland Provsions Skyr are fucking amazing btw. Not a huge fan of greek yogurt or yogurt in general but skyr is delicious.

Ha I do the 15 minute thing. I always tell myself to just get through the first 15. Heart rate drops after the first 15 too unless it’s out in the heat and humidity. It was 78F with 87% humidity for a 13.1 run Saturday morning. It was miserable. I was dealing with some cramping and I have some calf/Soleus bruising or discoloration today but they are no more sore than any other tempo run. No problems doing 90 mins on the bike this morning. Hoping it’s nothing serious. I did biking on the trainer today give the body / kidneys a break from being out in the heat everyday and a chance to rehydrate.

Granted I am just getting started but holy fuck do your quads ever stop being sore as fuck after working them out? I’ve done squat sets on two different visits and I’m fine in the moment with the blood pumping but later my quads be sore as fuck and walking is ok but sitting down and standing up from the seated position is TORTURE. Like I had to Indiana Jones a towel to my bathroom towel rack and pull myself off the toilet the first day. Please tell me with more training it won’t ever be that bad again

It's not so bad once you are regularly training.

basically nothing will be as bad with regular training as it is when you're lifting for the first time in years but hard leg days will always fuck you right up, i hit glutes a lot for fencing and later that day have to take stairs two slow lumbery steps to the same step at a time

No legs are always the hardest because between them and your ass they have to do most of the lifting of your body. When you work them they'll be sore. You just feel it less as they get stronger until you push harder.

you know meme about skipping leg day.

its true bc that shit hurts for a week.

i was terrible all weekend and the pool was closed yesterday for the holiday. i'm walking around like a bloated balloon of farts and sweat over here. gonna try swimming the bay when the sun comes out but a shark may kill me.

It gets better. The first few weeks getting back into it are always pretty rough. I find that frequency helps more than anything. If you're only going in blowing up legs once a week you'll probably always be ruined after leg day.

I think most ppl here do a 4 day split but I prefer a 3 day full body routine plus cardio for general fitness.

When I started doing cardio again I could swear my lungs were going to pop and I couldn't feel my legs without hurting. Now I barely get out of breath unless I really punch it.

No, you can do it. It's always hard at first but then gets tolerable as your body starts to condition.

You right you right yesterday my gym wasn’t having any classes because of the holiday and I was feeling antsy so I went to my apartment’s much much much much much much smaller gym and did a mile on the treadmill just to do something and I did feel better. Today was a rest day. Tomorrow is more cardio. Thursday is one-on-one with my trainer and I don’t know what kind of plans she has for me. Saturday morning I’m taking my second foundations class to work on getting my form better.
