100% i remember reading up on LeBron James's training regimen and he's basically a cat sleeping 8-9 hours a night and 3-4 more hours of napping a day around the lifting / practicing / cardio

6 week check in with my trainer

Down 20 pounds from initial weigh-in. BMI percentage is down 2 points.

Trainer wants me to focus on more gradual increase in weight training but she says my two days a week cardio is going great and just keep doing what I’m doing there. Also increased my recommended daily protein by 10g more.

    Feels good man

Bamboozled myself at the gym today. My trainer last week showed me how to use the pec fly/rear lat machine and it seemed easy enough. Today I get in there, unsupervised, and try it out and it is a LOT harder. I’m like what the heck. I check the weight setting and it was one I should have been able to handle. So I’m like well maybe my form is off let me try again. Still got it but it was really hard. Now I’m like okay this isn’t right. Checked it over one more time and finally noticed that it had been left in the pec fly setting and I was attempting to do the rear lat exercises. Oops. I switched it and all was well. Still lots to learn!

Irreparable reputation damage, you're gonna have to switch gyms.

Thankfully I've never done that. My biggest mistake is after a break from the gym, expecting to still do the same weight level or heavier when I get back. Found this out on Saturday when I tried to up myself to 130lbs on Leg Extensions when I haven't been able to do it for two weeks due to the machine always been in use, followed by a break with a combination heat wave and broken ac at the gym.

For me it's all the times I load up a bunch of weight on something with a lot of people around and then try to casually walk away after I obviously fail to get even one rep.

My summer lap pool was absolutely full of dead bugs today and yesterday. Like swimming through a river of West Nile virus potential. I made the bold to decision to cut my swims in half because it eventually got to me.

    SHAME.

If you want to up your ice cream game, get a ninja creami. Use 560ml of fairlife milk (skim) and 3 scoops of any protein powder (Ghost has the best flavors and texture, the chips ahoy is my favorite).

330 cal for over 50g protein, for half a tub (Which is about a pint). It makes cutting fucking easy.

Have felt a burning sensation just below my kneecap the past few weeks when bending my knee. Google suggests patellar tendonitis "jumper's knee". Did a YouTube PT routine for it this morning, I'll try to keep that up and see if it improves.

Might be BS but voodoo bands have always worked for me on that type of stuff. IT band work and band work to make sure glutes are firing on that side has helped too.

It's crazy. If I squat I don't feel it at all, but if I'm laying propped up in bed and bend my left leg up from straight it burns like crazy. Seems to be all about whether my quad is contracted or not.

New PB on my mile pace today at 17:39 woooo hoooo

So my free one-on-ones with my trainer are finished now, she showed me a lot of good exercises and put me on a good path but I honestly do find motivation lacking when I don’t have her there to cheer me on or correct me or even just to shoot the shit with while exercising. I’ve seen other trainers doing their one-on-ones with their clients and I will not so subtly go use a machine close to them to learn whatever exercise is being taught and feed off their motivation lol

I don't know what was going on with me yesterday but I came in to do legs and back. Did Squats, did deadlifts, did pulldowns, and then everything else I wanted to do had a line for it and it felt so overwhelming that I just left. Got here earlier today and doing OK so far.

Always listen to yourself. Sounds dumb but whether physical or mental, sometimes you gotta just rack the weights and get out. I've definitely been vibed out of the pool for no reason.

Had my yearly physical today, doc told me to take 600mg of Motrin 3x a day for a week and see if that eliminates the patellar tendonitis

seems like a lot but here we go
