progress can feel slow sometimes, but steady improvements are what really matter. whether its losing weight, building strength, or just staying consistent with healthier habits, every little bit adds up over time
Setting goals that are not based on the scale are also helpful and give you the mental reward for hitting them. This could be weekly goals based on duration, consistency, performance metrics (who doesn’t like PRs).. I also like to track and hit sleep goals since my mental and physical performance starts there.
How we holding up BG bros?! Like many of you I am sure, I’m looking forward to a cheat day on Thanksgiving. Remember you still have today, tomorrow, and Wednesday to put in some work! I got a new PR on my 5k time I’m pretty stoked about it.
Spoiler: show
Keep up the great work dude
pretty terribly the last 2 months honestly. gained about 10 lbs between having to skip a lot of swimming because my new business is largely catering to EU/UK folks who work early af and making excuses to eat too much for stress. I cut the shit starting on friday, decided to do some meal replacement with huel for breakfast or lunch every day this week except thanksgiving. gonna cut that 10 back off p fast and then get back in the water hopefully starting next week.
Enjoy turkey day and be fat but then yeah get back at it homie
My left groin has been tight for like 6 months now. I can barely get into a proper butterfly stretch, feels like I'm going to pull it. It's normally not a problem for like squats/lunges/etc but when I try to ride the Peloton I can usually only last about 10 minutes before it starts to seize up. Riding my e-bike has been fine, probably because my feet aren't clipped in (and I'm not exerting myself as much).
Beyond the obvious "just stretch it, moron" advise, anyone deal with anything like this?
Yeah, actually. When I herniated a lumbar disk.
Stretch more, dummy. But varied, not just butterfly. Idk what it's called, but the one where you lay on your back and push up with your pelvis, making an arch with your back. If you do it right it stretches that area a bit too. Once I was loose from that I did butterflies as well. Also, there's an exercise machine, I forget the name, that you can sit on and stretch with. It's only for stretching, and has a rope you hold onto while the seat swivels back allowing you to stretch your legs out.

do yoga, target lower body hips/groin etc, hit a 20-30 minute youtube vid a day, fuggedhaboudit. exponentially better than static stretching it out on your own.
yep, dynamic stretching, ideally focused breath with the movement. static stretching can't offer the same
like warrior 1-type pose example: breathe in and lunge forward, opening your arms and chest. exhale and return arms and legs to the standing warrior 1 position. try to finish the movements with your breath. don't force any depth of pose that causes discomfort or labored breath
boys i have done a stupid. i have committed to a sprint triathlon in June.
.25 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run (realistically a walk lol)
My main problem is that bikes are both expensive and stupid. I'm getting my distance up and time down in the gym.
I’ve got some friends who are into biking, and it sounds like an absolute blast—but holy hell, those things are expensive. Once you get seriously competitive, the cost of keeping up skyrockets. I remember my buddy dropping nearly $8k on his last one—and that was just his mountain bike. The guy owns like five different bikes, each for a specific purpose. That said, they’re undeniably badass and ridiculously lightweight. I swear to God, the one he just bought weighs less than my fucking shoes.
Probably a tight and weak posterior chain all the way to your feet
Biking is great and should be a social thing imo. Find a good group and start off those Saturday morning by burning 2k calories before 10AM. The bikes get expensive quick. I think it’s easier to justify the cost when you put more miles on your bike than your car(15-18 hours a week) I would have hit 10k miles this year if I wasn’t running/rowing 5-6 hours a week.
You’re probably going to see ppl with TT bikes but I would recommend starting with a road bike. They are safer in group rides and more versatile. For a bike leg that short the road is fine. You can put clip on aero bars if you want.
