So I don't post in here very often because I don't work out regularly. I'm part of the reason your gym is so crowded right now, don't worry I'll be gone in six weeks.
But what Guitarman wrote and Celeras agreed with was what I thought was accepted practice. That a workout routine needed to change every so often to change how the muscle responded.
But CS posted the video of the guy explaining his position, and it seems reasonable.
Does anyone have some handy links to reputable sources on the topic?
I've googled, but I dunno what to trust really.
If only Richardd were here.
Forget about muscle confusion or w/e. What is your goal? To get stronger or look good w/ your shirt off? You can do strength training, a body-building style routine, or both. Wanna lose weight? Incorporate intermittent fasting. Count the number of calories that your body needs to maintain. Keep a log, etc. etc. that way you'll figure out how much you need to lose or to gain.
I'm with CS/wulf. Muscle confusion in the way i think about it(many different changes/variations) is probably the easiest way to slow your progression and deload weeks would not fall under this, these are just light weeks to let you rest without doing nothing.
Also just ate 3800calories in almonds and passed out and my stomach feels like it's full of glass and i want to die.
Just eat jars of peanut butter dog
I use the vanilla flavored stuff as a milk substitute, because of a minor intolerance and it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately I have no problem with mass so I didn't use it often. When I do make myself a shake as a treat, I use 1/2 cup of Almond milk, 1 banana, a dollop of peanut butter, blend, then add 3 frozen strawberries, blend till smooth. Looks like a strawberry shake and tastes like PB. Add vanilla flavored protein powder if supplementing intake.
I may try that, when i was making shakes it was great, the milk was just too much for me though. And water is no substitute in a shake whatsoever.
I use water in shakes, whatever. Chug it and be done with it.
Like protein shakes? cuz i just use water in that, but putting water in with oats/bananas/berries/peanutbutter was pure ass especially considering i was chugging an entire blender full which was 2400 calories.
Oh yeah no. Why do you need so many cals at once? Are you not eating meals? Massive bulking?
I spent the past 4 months at 1600 cals a day. Mind boggling difference.
I dropped to 135lbs eating 2400cal a day how the fuck do you manage. And i like eating one meal at a time because regardless of what or how much i eat im full after it for the entire day so i like to just eat what i need for the entire day in a 30min powerfeed.
I am hungry for the entire day, I hate you, let's switch.
Also I'm 29 and used to have a hyper metabolism that I think I abused too much with some funtime mmo addiction. Also I was trying to lose weight, hence the deficit. Lost about 30lbs in 4 months.
Almost 27 and can't gain weight, my dad is 56 and loses weight with anything under 3600cal and hes 170lbs. So as far as waiting to get old i don't think it's happening for me.
lol I envy you fuckers. I gain weight just doing my eating videosand when I'm not doing them, anything over 2000 cals and I gain weight, fast
