CS looking beastly as always... I'll come back and check in once I shed another 2-3%! (hovering around 10% now)

How much leaner were you shooting for? Can't be more than another ~couple pounds/1% max, don't have much left to shed beyond that?

Keep track of your measurements at all? Chest is looking massive; you had to have gained a solid couple of inches.

I haven't been keeping measurements, really and don't have a set goal just trying to look leanest possible, but the event is tomorrow, so I'm stuck w/ what I'm stuck with. Better than my last 2 conventions in April, but not as good as my convention in October. I'll have to settle for middle ground. I worked hard these last 3 weeks by doing all these Fossil runs, but I started the eating way too late. So it's expected

Nice shower curtain, but can a nigga see the poster?
I'll get some pics when I get home

I'm going to go to the gym today with a co-worker and try out the beginner strength routine.
This guy is someone who's done a lot of fitness exercise research in the past and has done a lot of different things, so I thought he'd be good to help me maintain form, and make sure I don't hurt myself with too much weight. Plus I didn't want to do it alone in case I got a little over my head.

I'll write down the weights and post them here later.

Why I ever stopped working out is beyond me fuck I'm feeling great again. I have one struggle right now as I can't use weights due to work status restrictions of nothing over 5 lbs. I was curious if anyone had experience with resistance bands? Someone on FB mentioned it but I'm clueless here on if I should bother or just wait until I can use actual weights again at the gym.

    Okay, post workout update.

I was able to squat about 120lbs (plus the bar). I was struggling a bit by the end and I may have had a little bit too much weight. I'll continue at 120lbs until I'm a little more comfortable.

The bench press I did a little different than on the wiki. We placed metal bars through the frame and placed the bar just above my chest so instead of lifting the bar off a high bar, I was pushing it up from my chest. This just seemed safer to me in case I accidentally dropped the bar or something. I was able to do 70lbs + the bar here.

For my deadlift, I started by putting some metal runs on the front side of the cage and let the bar rest there. I first tried with 50lbs, but moved down to 20 when I thought I wasn't getting the proper range of motion. I'll probably add it back up to 25 after I do them a few more times. I did 2 sets of 5 instead of 1 set of 5 trying to figure out the proper weight.

No idea if any of these numbers are good or not for beginners.

Don't worry about numbers as far as being ashamed of them. Lifting anything is an improvement for you, so good job. Don't let ego get in the way and keep at it. Btw, an olympic bar usually weighs 45lbs.

I've used them many times. I've torn my rhomboids on two separate occasions so I had to use them for rehab. They work very well. Just be careful; you'll get a bigger workout than you might expect from them, so go slow if you're injured.

If it comes with a "door anchor" attachment, DO NOT TRUST IT. I was using one experimentally to try a rear delt exercise some time ago. Placed the anchor under the and shut the door. Just to paint the picture, I was on the side where the door would open away from me, so that I had the frame keeping the door from flexing and allow the anchor to move. Unfortunately, after a few reps I managed to rip the anchor from under the door which launched at my like a massive bullet smacking me right in the stomach. Through the blinding pain I was just thankful it didn't smack me in my groin. Judging from the baseball-sized black bruise it immediately left, I wouldn't be having kids if it had struck me there. The door anchor went in the trash immediately after I had stopped writhing in pain.

And yeah I'm in the liquid-calories camp myself. In fact that's the only adjustment I ever make to my diet nowadays. When I'm in maintenance mode, it's usually a delicious Labrada RTD of some sort. When I'm (attempting) to bulk, I swap that out for Optimum Pro Gainer (bout an extra 400 cals and 80g of decent carbs). Might try serious mass one day but I'm scared of it cos I'm vain and otter.

It's just easier for me. I pretty much feel like I'm forcing down my calories on a daily basis anyway. I would legit eat 1600ish a day left to my own devices, and did for a long time which is probably why I'm such a dweeb.

Man... I'm in the middle of another set of crossfit classes, courtesy of groupon (nice way to switch up the routine)... Wednesday's workout involved a 400meter farmer's walk, with a 100lb kettlebell in each hand.

I am sore in ways I have never been before right now. I feel like the weight of my arm alone is enough to dislocate my shoulder from its socket.

Still here, still maintaining 230 lbs. Slowly starting a couch to 5k program since i was probably 280 last I tried and immediately had to quit that noise. It's oddly refreshing to burn my endurance out instead of just being in pain.

Seconding the "ignore the numbers" bit. Focus on what you're doing, not what someone else is doing. There are people smaller than me that can lift twice as much, and people twice as heavy lifting half as much as I do. Good for them, I hope they keep at it.

Focus on yourself, get the form down so you don't injure yourself and most importantly, keep at it and don't get discouraged.

I loved C25k as the app on the phone made it so easy to follow. I started running last year around the 290 mark however soon had near debilitating pain in my back and hip which was diagnosed as bursitis. Basically too long of me being heavy on a smaller frame took its toll.

Running is fucking addictive and I miss it so much. I hope you enjoy it and it works well for you. I plan to try again once I've lost a more significant amount so my joints are put under less stress then. For now I do more cardio and swimming.

We had a club meet today at my lifting gym to help some of the college kids get numbers to qualify for University Nationals and US Open. Ended up hitting a new PR on my Clean and Jerk 15 more pounds until I hit the 300 club. Woo!

    Will do Sir.
I'm still sore today. Mostly when I'm sitting down or standing up, or trying to go up the stairs. Hopefully it'll get a lot better by Monday. I want to hit workout B.

Try to not use "I'm sore" as a reason to skip the gym. A lot of times that soreness will go away, or diminish as you warm up and start being active for the day's workout. Now if it's painful, that's a different story. If it's just aches and stiffness, get moving! You'll feel a lot better once you start getting that heart rate up and muscles active.

Yeah I learned that last time around when I was going to the gym daily. I always felt better after the initial 10 minute run I used to do. It seems that my attitude towards food is swinging back to the way it was before. I'm not as hungry, and I can't justify eating things with large amounts of calories in them.

I agree with all of this too. My hamstring in my left leg always seems to give me issues so now I stretch it out more before and after which typically alleviates the issue. My front of my legs and thighs can burn but after warming up it goes away.

It took me about 2 weeks to get settled back into clean eating and it feels awesome. I'm drinking more water than I ever have before as well thanks to those crystal light liquid /MIO liquid. Not perfect but now I use less and less. I never feel deprived or hungry and have tons of energy. Now if my left hand would finish healing so I could add more weight to my routine..

At the time I was working out with a partner I would get pushed really hard (at the time I was 225 at 5'9) and I would be quite sore afterwords. I was also working a desk job and no lie the first week of working out I had trouble sitting down and walking to the bathroom. It did get better and as Hushi said it diminishes as you push forward. Now I gotta get back into that mentality because I've regressed big time!
