I have that a bit as well.

I CAN DO 1 REGULAR PULL UP YES THEN FUCK LIFE
Sorry, off that caps lock. I can do one full true pull up. After that I really can't move that much body weight (130) with just my arms. I'll take pics of the thing tonight to show how it positions my arms. It's kinda wonky and I may go to the middle machine that just has a straight bar.
Yeah, definitely a nice starting point! I couldnt do 1 when I first started. Being able to do 1, you could improve by doing that 1 several times, like, you do 1, go do some other exercise or rest a bit, go for another 1, and so on. However, if you want to progress faster it would be good to also attack them by making them easier just so you get more volume work. For example, following Ghost_Wheel22 suggestions. Other options are jumping to help you go up and then slowly lower yourself, jump again... or doing "smith machine pullups" (google them) which are more like a row but should definitely help.
My old box banned butterfly pullups. Its not right to lump them all together. Most Wods also state if it calls for pull ups or butterfly pull ups clarifying that they are not the same thing. My legs were also the strongest they've been in my life and I had mobility like I was in high school again. 475 back squat / 515 dead @ 190lbs 7-8% bf.
It was nice eating 4k calories a day and skin folds shrinking.
I'll offer my insight on pull-ups from being a trainer for the past six years.
If you want to get better at pull ups... Just do more damn pull ups. Negatives, jumping pull ups, doesn't matter. Just do more of them.
Doing lat pull downs as a way to "build strength" for pull ups is stupid. The biomechanics are completely different between a lat pull down and a pull up even though the main muscles involved are the same.
Also, for as much shit as CrossFit and their "shitty form" gets as a whole, there are reasons behind their methods. I don't get into it because every time I do, I feel like I'm just beating a dead horse.
Also, for every "shitty form CrossFitter" someone points out, I can point out 3 shitty form bros doing quarter squats and body swaying bicep curls; shitty form is everywhere.
What happens when one cant do a single pullup? Gotta start somewhere.
I suggested since she can do 1, to consider just do that 1 pullup as many times a day as possible, in between exercises or whatever, but figured that still isnt much and easier ways as stepping stones would help progress faster. But I take your word and definitely agree that once you can do a few, there is no better way to progress than doing them and then some more. However, at least for me, I found out that after I could do 8-10 just going for reps was making me progress and doing them weighted was the way to go.
Oh, got it! Just my poor English comprehension getting in the way, I understood the "doesnt matter" as they were not useful. So we are 100% on the same page, then!
I'm actually about to try that. Do 1, push ups, try another.
That was technically the second. I tried not to kick off and just lift. Maybe need smaller footstool.
Form thoughts?
I haven't posted in awhile, but wanted to say I have lost 10 lbs so far! Of course none of that is belly fat, but eh. I am going to keep pushing and got my step tracker. 10 down 27 more to go to reach my goal weight.
