Yeah tons of respect. I hope you make it in, would be amazing to watch a BGer on TV.

I'm good with new folks trying to work through some new year's resolutions, but god damn the gym was ridiculous today; just finding a piece of floor to roll out the shoulders was a challenge.
I've been going pretty hard the past month or so trying to get back into solid shape; mostly running SL 5x5 with some targeted work / body weight movements and cardio on the side. Tossed up 5x5 235 on the bench today fairly easily and felt pretty good about it. Need to start cutting weight though as I'm clocking in around 205.
Why don't you just go walk in and wait in line? You don't need to be invited.
The wait in line can seriously go up to like a week long. Also I live in New York which is nowhere close to any of the competition locations.
Good luck man! Awesome goal to set for yourself; I'll be totally jealous if you make it! It's one of those distant life goals for me, but not sure if I'll ever get there and/or have the balls to submit a vid.
Maybe someday. Seeing this definitely helps reinvigorate the motivation though.
A wild Ruke appears!
I lurk therefor I am.
Good luck Botosi! I am happy you ended up making the vid and applying. Why not, and the video is cool! I would say something about leaving stuff to the very last minute but I am the worst at that, haha.
Yeah I always wait til the last minute. So stupid of me.
Anyways, now that I'm just training I decided to make a goal of hitting 170 by March 9th. I started January 9th at 149lbs (after morning shits cleared out fully).
I decided to try buying lactaid cause milk kind of fucks with my stomach and omg my stomach has never handled milk this well. Drank the whole carton in a day and a half along with protein powders. Never would've been able to do that on regular milk.
Wish I knew I was lactose intolerant sooner, because I also read that drinking milk and giving myself the shits could also backfire and disallow me from absorbing nutrients from future meals.
Anyways I'm up to 155.6 lbs (fully cleared out) in just 3 full days. Idk how that's even really possible but I've been eating like a cow and I'm extremely motivated to keep pushing just by seeing these results.
A back note on why I made this goal: aside from thinking it'll benefit me in ANW, I also am thinking about becoming a personal trainer since I just got my bachelor's and my main love in life is exercising and fitness. I don't wanna be the personal trainer who looks like he needs a personal trainer. If I hit this goal I'm gonna take the classes. Even if I don't hit this goal..I realize how insane it is and I'll be glad for trying.
Some of that is water weight from the higher food intake, but its good you have set that goal and are already putting in the work to make it happen man. On Monday I started a weight cut (that will last 7-8 weeks) so we are on different sides right now but I get motivation from anyone that pursues fitness goals, whatever they are. And anyway, I will have to "bulk" for years to come as I am kind of a hardgainer.
Damn I put on about 15-20lbs and a bit of a belly since my wedding. I don't feel like doing hiit to drop it and I was going to just lift with like PPL and eat lean that should work well right? I'll probably run a lot again too I just hate hiit.
Eating better and increasing your daily activity by lifting will work for sure. HIIT and other forms of cardio are a tool at your disposal but not needed to reach your goals, I think, so dont do it if you hate it.
Also I've been really cranking up the workouts the last week. My schedule has looked like
Day 1 - Lunch: 22-25 Min Legs and Core Circuit. Toes to Bars, 1 arm db snatch, side lunges, crunches
Day 1 - Evening: Chest/Tri Workout - Bench, Dips, Incline DB Bench, Behind the neck press, Tricep Push down, cable flys, rope push downs
Day 1 - 45-60 mins of walking at 110-130 heart rate
Day 2 - Lunch: 3 Miles Hard run. Goal is to get it down under 20 mins. Right now I'm around 23-24.
Day 2 - Evening: Back and Biceps Bent Row, Face Pulls, Close grip pull down, 1 arm DB rows, back flys, preacher curls
Day 2 - 45-60 mins of walking at 110-130 heart rate
Day 3 - Lunch: 4x30 pulls down and push up super set followed by bicep/tricep/side raise circuit
Day 3 - Evening: Legs - 3x 8,5,3 Overhead Squat, Front Squat, then Back Squat, Deadlift, Bulgarian squat
Day 3 - 45-60 mins of walking at 110-130 heart rate
I normally have my EAA around mid workout then a scoop of protein before my walk which is a drive home from the gym, shake, and leash my dog. Depending on soreness either take a day off and only cardio or start back over.
It looks like a lot but it's been working great. I just started the walking pwo this week but over the last 5 weeks I've dropped from 15-16% BF using 3 site calipers to 11.5% while gaining 2 lbs (post morning relief).
Jesus christ if I tried your leg program I'd wheelchair bound for the other two days. That's a lotta working sets on squats.
Honestly I wish I could find a back and chest workout that gave the same results. I start with overhead and whatever weight I end on and start with fronts. Whatever weight u end on fronts and start with back. It's a perfect progressions. The deads are extra and if I have bad day on back squat I can make up for it on deadlifts since I have the extra juice. I have longer arms so I can normally keep my deadlift 455 but closer to 500+ and I'm happy. It's not really a focus.
The last time a spent a few months doing that progression I was able to get over 455 back squat and 275x1 Bulgarian.
I've thought about trying overhead to incline to flat. Or maybe close grip bench medium to wide grip. Idk. I honestly think it's all in the Bulgarian squats for the squat increase so I added 1 arm incline DB a couple weeks ago to mimic the leg progression.
I'm glad you commented on the leg workout is the one I'm the most confident in. It works wonders.
I guess this thread isn't as busy as it used to be. Here is an article discussing Myonuclei and muscle memory. http://daily.barbellshrugged.com/the...muscle-memory/
It's one of many I've read over the last few days and it makes a strong case for the old school bulk cut phases. I've read some other studies where creatine gets you to the point where you start adding myonuclei faster than without. Some supplements like Arachidonic Acid that enhance pwo inflammation may also create an ideal environment for Myonuclear accretion, where previously it was thought as bro science.
Gustave if I followed your workout routine I'd be skin and bones. Props to you though because that's definitely a crazy healthy workout.
Mom was in the hospital for an upper respiratory virus and she happened to pass it onto me. 4 days now without the gym and it's been the longest 4 days of my life.
Thanks. Life gets crazy sometimes and I don't have time to keep up, lose motivation, or find interest in a different hobby but I always come back and try to hit a few PR's before getting burned out.
Get some rest and get healthy and the gym will still be waiting. I hope your moms condition has improved.
