You're picturing a rag-tag group of kids without jobs. Of course they all paid for their tickets. The demonstration was short, peaceful, and was of little disturbance. They received some applause, since you skipped the video, and also it seems some tweets of support from those who attended.

Eh, given what has already happened, that's not that far-fetched. It's sketchy sourcing for sure, but given how the SLCPD has acted and other things that have been reported by actual news outlets in the St. Louis area, I think this is at least plausible. And that's the problem when you do things that erode the trust and credibility given to you as an institution (like, oh, running a massive domestic spying program that exceeds legal authority and using secret courts with secret legal rulings to rubber stamp your program): once you lose trust and credibility, things that would formerly appear as complete paranoia no longer remain in the realm of fantasy.

I dunno, it seems like a small victory if you look at the summary judgment that says there cops can still arrest you or tell you to move if you aren't in a designated protest area. I bet this will increase arrests, unfortunately.

So in laymen, it's unconstitutional to require a protestor to move or otherwise disband; but if you disobey a cop telling you to move that is illegal and you can be arrested.
