There hasn't been an official statement of the distance, but after lying twice that it was 35 feet, the chief did correct himself with some vague description of the distance. I'd have to go dig up those reports again to get his exact words, but I don't recall an official updated measurement.

I think a lot of people just don't want to believe that cops would lie to protect one of their own in a region that has a long and continuing history of police harassment of minorities. It's not like we've seen the "he was going for a/my gun" argument abused before. I'm still waiting for credible evidence that solidly backs that up, not inconclusive details and anonymous second-hand or third-hand accounts.

THIS. What is so hard to comprehend about people's distrust for the official story, which has been crafted off a blank slate? I just posted an article that gives two Supreme Court cases in Missouri with very similar attempts by the police to cover-up crimes, in which they were found guilty. There is no conspiracy here, and frankly I would have thought that buzzword used to dismiss arguments had run out of ammo after shit like NSA leaks, drug trade cover-ups, torture cover-ups, and other govt bullshit exposed over recent years. This is meme garbage and doesn't belong in serious debates.

Just to help put it in perspective before a certain someone with a tinfoil hat comes along, any GS-1811 worth their salt doesn't give a shit about the average local law enforcement officer. We're held to a much higher standard and have absolutely no regard into the interests of said local PD. I think it's safe to say the FBI's findings are accurate.

Definitely agree, which is why I'm leaning towards he used lethal force because he mistakenly thought Brown was a threat.

As more info comes out obviously ill adjust my opinion, but I don't think that's unreasonable to think atm.
