Sorry for not providing enough color commentary with my updating of tweets from activists in Ferguson. Maybe you could take a break from cable news once in awhile to realize that this type of behavior isn't how news is supposed to operate.

I asked the question before, and I got no responses from Reddit (I think I broke the circlejerk there), so I'll ask here:

Why Ferguson? There's literally thousands of cities in the US with the same disparities, so what set this off?

My own speculation is that there were people lying in wait for one shooting to happen, and it's just what they needed to push their own agenda. The data from cities where arrest rates and murder rates of black are higher? Ding ding ding! There's more blacks per capita there, so you'll probably have some skewed numbers. If there were more Asians, there'd be more Asian arrests. Same thing down in the South, where more Hispanic's are arrested than blacks or whites. Why is this a hard concept to grasp?

It's for whoever wants to take and use such an article to push whatever message they want to push. There's still facts in the data you cannot ignore, such as the fact that crime stats for violent offenders share a direct correlation to the poverty levels of the area that's a focus of the study. It's also quite coincidental that the largest concentrations of blacks in America are around major metropolitan cities, that also has some of the highest concentration of wealth disparity in the nation. No one cares about that, though. It's always about white vs. black, and nothing else.

I made no such statement, and now you're talking out your ass. I already know there's a disparity in incarcerations for race. That has nothing to do with arrests rates, and the BJS already shows proportions that reflect demographically, arrests based on race are specific per the region.

not really. if you set up a checkpoint and hand out a shitton of tickets for non-DUI offenses, most of them are going to be vehicle maintenance related. This disproportionately affects low-income people, who can not afford to fully maintain their vehicles. If a disproportionate number of your low-income population is black, that means you're handing out tickets at a disproportionate rate. The same applies to arrests.

My point is, your kneejerk defense of unnamed departments you know nothing about is silly because you're assuming that racist arrest rates mean racist cops and that doesn't jive with the blue line. It is entirely possible for those departments to be 100% honest and still put out racist arrest rates because the system is rigged against black people because they make up a disproportionate percentage of the low-income population due to the aforementioned legacy of slavery/jim crow.
