Dorian Johnson also admits to lying in his witness testimony for fear of being shot by DW

After the shooting Johnson ran back to his house to change his clothes and admitted it was so that the police did not recognise him and arrest him over the convenience store robbery
not sure if this is the author of the article paraphrasing and twisting words around, or if this is Dorian Johnson's words.

Does it matter? Johnson already lied about what he witnessed. I'm still shocked the news is still interviewing him.

The reddit thread is confusing and I'd rather someone clarify here than sort through the whole thing.

Was Deandre Johnson also a witness or are people confusing Deandre Johnson with Dorian Johnson?

People forget that in order to secure an indictment, you have to have a PC hearing. All this does is show that the case would have been thrown out anyways. Don't trivialize this step in the system as trying to shirk responsibility. No one has suggested what evidence, if any, wasn't presented during the hearing, and no one so far has said anything about the procedure being flawed. All they're bitching about is that it's unusual (grand jury) and he didn't show any enthusiasm for prosecuting (except his assistants presented most of the evidence and he did very little presentation).

The thing is, I thought this is what people want? The justice system is flawed, yeah? Take it out of the hands of the corruptor and leave it up to the people. Twelve civilians decided there was no probable cause to move forward. Twelve civilians. Twelve. Civilians. What the fuck do people want?

DeAndre Johnson is a name you made up (actually he's a college football player it seems)
DeAndre Joshua is the guy who was shot and set ablaze in the ensuing riots after the GJ's decision
Dorian Johnson is the guy who was with MB when MB got killed.

The DA wasn't trying to get an indictment - which is frustrating. He should have either stepped aside for a special prosecutor or put his personal feelings aside and done his job.

Hint: if you're trying to get an indictment, you don't allow the suspect to testify for 4 hours without cross-examining him.

You also don't present the grand jury with an unconstitutional law for most of the proceedings, then tell them "nevermind" at the very end without explaining what was ruled unconstitutional and how supreme court rulings affect state laws.

The problem is that the grand jury is not a substitute for the adversarial process of a trial. The procedure was extremely flawed because the prosecutors essentially acted like defense attorneys for Darren Wilson when nobody can point to another grand jury case where that has happened. From everything that's been pored over so far, there are myriad issues with the way evidence was handled, the way witnesses were selectively cross-examined, the fact that Darren Wilson was even called to testify at all when there was zero need to do so at this step of the process.

In most cases grand juries are tilted heavily in favor of the prosecutor. In this case the prosecutor abused the system to shield Darren Wilson from the actual justice system which would have provided a much more thorough and more fair process.

The thing is, I thought this is what people want? The justice system is flawed, yeah? Take it out of the hands of the corruptor and leave it up to the people. Twelve civilians decided there was no probable cause to move forward. Twelve civilians. Twelve. Civilians. What the fuck do people want?
If every case that went before a grand jury proceeded like this, sure. But they don't, and that's why this was a complete joke of a process. Grand juries are not meant to examine in-depth witness testimony or defenses against possible charges and the Supreme Court has stated as such.

McCulloch ensured that Wilson will never be able to get a fair criminal trial, but people are finding so many flaws in the way this grand jury was handled that I can almost guarantee you we'll see a wrongful death lawsuit filed that will end up getting settled out of court because of how badly this case was handled from start to finish.

You're still forgetting the fact that half the witnesses were discredited during the proceeding, the forensics matched his initial statement, and everyone didn't read the damn transcripts, where it clearly points out that Wilson was the last witness to be called. If all the previous "evidence" and witness testimony cooberates Wilson's initial statement, is there really some point to using shit and dirt tactics to throw together a weak indictment on a weak case that's destined to lose? Probable Cause has a MUCH lower burden of proof than Beyond Reasonable Doubt. Goes to trial and the case is tossed or the prosecution loses. Then what? Same thing where people are rioting and blowing whistles; it's a lose lose.

Everyone claims to be an expert in law and cross examination. I tell you with plenty of experience that Wilson was questioned with gusto. I love how all these legal experts speaking with Yahoo News and Forbes Magazine say they would have ripped Darren Wilson a new one. Sorry, that not how Grand Jury works. It's not a trial, and it's not like the movies where the young good looking Assisting Prosecutor makes a long and complicated speech to sway the minds of the jury.

    The minority, probably.

I'd say the majority don't really know why they're upset.

It's still a part of the justice system, and the fact that the case was decided by a jury of civilians should give them some sort of clarity as to maybe their sense of Social Justice is wrong.

Does anybody know if this grand jury was assembled just for this case, or were they already reviewing stuff? When I got a jury summons in Illinois, I found out it was for a grand jury. It would have been 1 day a week for I think 3 months. (Sadly, my number was too high to actually make it). Reason I'm asking is for when the all the comments come out about there being 9 white people, was this a previously existing group that just happened to fall into the rotation.

Yes, let's conveniently ignore every career prosecutor and criminal attorney in the country that has been roasting Bobby ever since the verdict came out and all the unprecedented steps he took to ensure that GJ wasn't going to allow this case to go to trial.

Been a while since I posted. Just want to add people want their baseless judgements corroborated regardless of what the evidence shows. I said I was going to wait until the evidence came out before taking stance on one side or the other and based on the evidence I think the grand jury got it right.

People just want their excuse to rage. Michael Brown shouldn't have committed strong arm robbery, and he shouldn't have assaulted a police officer. If he didn't assault a police officer he would still be alive today.
