Sal being Sal.
Reading curfew is in place. Is that legal? Lol.
The investigation is still not over, and before then it's still clear Brown did something wrong. I'm not justifying his death, but people are acting like the cop just got out of his car and said "which minority should I kill today?" The portrayal on the news doesn't help, which I guess is my main gripe.
When I hear about a cop killing an unarmed teenager, my first reaction isn't to go grab a pitchfork and rabble. I ask why he needed to grab his gun in the first place, and from what we know so far it does seem like unholstering his pistol was not the wrong choice.
It's probably just it's portrayal in the media, but for the first time today I heard some one I know mention it and they went off like it was an innocent saint getting gunned down by a racist. My first reaction was to go "holy crap I highly doubt that's how things went down".
if only he had stopped at unholstering
nobody is saying the kid was jesus, they are saying he shouldn't have been killed. you know, since he was more than 10 feet away from the officer and running away when he first got shot
That part is unclear, though. There's a lot of shady shit.
Like the officer stating he identified him as being the robber and shooting him within 7 min - despite the official report saying they hadn't identified the robber yet - after the shooting. The official report also states he took him in for jaywalking, not the robbery. So he changed his story after it was known he was the robber. What's to say the "grabbing for gun" part also isn't made up?
Someone posted a video last night right after his death where a guy who saw everything clearly says Brown ran at the cop and got shot up... That's exactly the same story that's coming from the officer according to what I've read. The dude says he thought the cop was missing because he just kept running at the cop, then finally fell down. According to the cops friend the final shot was in the head and Brown was very close to the officer. So that's at least 2 similar stories one seemingly neutral (guy on the scene) and one with obvious bias (cops friend, who apparently got the story from the cops wife).
It's not surprising that there are so many different stories floating around, it's obviously a very emotionally charged event and sometimes people fill in gaps with what they thing happened. Autopsy will clear things up, cop obv. in the wrong if he was shot in the back.
Whether he was shot from the front or the back will be easy enough to prove. The rest of the event will be harder.
If he was, in fact, shot in the back, that makes the cop's version very unreliable. So it would be very stupid of him to lie about that part at least.
