Funny you say that in this thread, where key posters hand pick bits of information that fit their narrative.

This is a problem on both sides, as well a major problem with most arguments on BG on most any subject matter with two opposing viewpoints. Regardless of this, I've only ever though of this situation as a police brutality/overreach case more over a case of race.

Seeing the grand picture allowed me to personally realize that, no, Brown was not this saint of a kid who should be regarded the epitome of goodness, yes, the huge mismanagement of the aftermath of the shooting and following trial lends itself to police overreach and corruption, yes, even Brown's friend embellished his story to no end in favor of him, and finally, there was still no reason why another youth had to be shot as he did, even if the altercation between the two lead to a dangerous situation for the cop.

My only problem with Neph is that he gives very literal textbook police answers on the behalf of DW. In reality, officers often sidestep the rules given to them, depending on the situation where circumstances change very rapidly. He could have just as well sped off in his cruiser and called for backup or gotten out his mace/club, let Brown flee and give chase or any other option available to him that didn't end up in him taking a life. This entire "shoot first, think later" ideal should really be changed.

I'm pretty sure I never worded anything like that, and that it was a blatant attack on SephYuyX alone, who's been giving off a racist vibe ever since he started posting in the discussion. I very rarely claim racists unless given reason, and you definitely weren't on that list of one.

I find it funny that you feel personally offended and assumed that by proxy I was speaking about you and others as well, but it often seems that you get yourself caught up in taking attacks on others as an attack on you. This isn't exactly your first time in the last 8+ years of posts.

And you obviously didn't pay attention to my follow up post showing that while I support MB, I'm open and able to see DW's side of the case as well.

You can't be racist towards whites as non-whites, since you don't have the power structure to affect whites as a non-white. In those cases, they are individual cases of discrimination, not reverse racism.

There's a reason why I can hold multiple paragraph long arguments with Neph, a police officer who sides with DW, and ignore most of everyone else.

You can even go back a few months and see a post a made stating I respect dude even (despite other people lumping him in with others). I also in tandem made a post about the struggles of what [good] police officers have to deal with as well on the other side of the coin. Lets disregard that however and claim I hate all pigs. Racism exists. It can be a serious issue. It's not what got Michael Brown killed though. Attacking a cop is what got him shot. It's awful. We all wish it could have gone down a different way. But it didn't, and its his own goddamn fault.

I didn't say non-whites can't be racist, I said they can't be racist towards whites. This is due to the fact that whites hold SYSTEMIC power over non-whites, and therefore can't be affected on a SYSTEMIC basis by them. Whites can only be affected by non-whites through individual instances of discrimination.

"Im black and i hate white people" is just as racist as "im white and i hate black people". The notion that one is discriminatory and one isnt is asinine. I have no idea how he can come to that conclusion, unless hes implying that "successful whites are the ones keeping the black man down", which in itself is racist, sinces hes implying that black people cant be successful.
