I haven't checked the NYT, but I believe @deray got dramatic with that because AP's report does have their wording correctly saying that is the county police's story. Although, I believe it is stated only once and the rest is a copy-pasta from the STLPD news.
Man, I gotta crash, sleep is all kinds of fucked-up now. If I had to guess, the store's camera will only lead to more questions anyways. Also, fuck that gun violence story tying another mentally unstable idiot into the protests. That cognitive dissonance didn't fly in the main cop thread and it definitely isn't relevant here.
Merry Christmas and shit.
One of our firemen got harassed at a Walmart a couple of days ago. He was wearing a blank non uniform off duty job shirt with no markings and jeans at a Walmart. 4 black guys approached him and surrounded him and started asking if he was a cop. He told them no, he's a firemen, and they started harassing him saying they didn't believe him and wouldn't leave him alone about it.
Random black guys have approached me on the street four times to talk about race relations since this Ferguson/etc. stuff started happening. Two of them have seemed genuinely interested in my opinion on the matter. One of them finished his spiel by asking if I had $5. The last one was pretty clearly schizophrenic and spiraled from a pretty normal conversation into telling me to enjoy life before god enslaved the white people and we were ruled over by all the oppressed minorities.

Merry Christmas from your local racist cops !
Haven't watched it yet, but CNN has the video and supposedly clearly shows the guy pointing a gun at the cop.
This is going to be marvellous.
You don't get it, black guy. Cop. Dead.
I'll reserve judgment until the facts come out.
Man, after 4 months of telling people to do this, it finally got through to one person.Originally Posted by kuro

It's fast, so don't blink (not like you can when squinting...)
its at the very end of the video for anyone who doesnt want to squint for a minute and a half D:
That "camera 29" layover really obscures the footage, but that guy clearly pulled something out of his bag and pointed it at the cop.
CNN & NYT are reporting that someone tried to torch a business last night during the confrontation with police, someone else also threw a firecracker at one of the gas pumps.
So we have the shittiest, most inconclusive camera angle possible, a dude who bled out for 30 minutes, and probably a victim with a troubled past. And, yet, the cop had a bodycam, a dashcam, and the ability to possibly save the victim's life.
This shit is already dividing folks on twitter with this being "no ferguson".
The response to no EMS ever arriving(some are actually telling lies saying there was one) is that protestors blocked access lol Anyone who watched the livestream and vines that came out last night know that statement is complete bullshit.
Ugh...
Except for the fact you can clearly see the guy point something held in his hand at the cop. It sure as shit didn't look like he was trying to shake his hand.
Who the fuck points a gun at a police in uniform and doesn't expect to be dead later, anyways? That is the worst possible video evidence you can have for proving anything. I have 20/20 vision and I ain't seent shit.
...
can someone just ban him and neph and let the rest of the people who actually want to listen and find a middle ground talk?
I'm less concerned with finding a middle ground and more concerned with finding reality. If the reality is the guy pointed a gun in a cop's face, then he fucked himself. That doesn't abdicate the police's responsibility to administer first aid and save his life after he was no longer an immediate threat, assuming he really did bleed out for a half hour and EMS was not called.
