That Al Jazeera crew was on an empty sidestreet that was away from the main protest that night though. Difference between trying to make sure media don't get caught up in an active situation and going out of your way to hassle / obstruct them.

Also, there was no "media staging area" on that night. They just wanted to shut down all media, in all locations. This just seems like a fake compromise to me so they can go ahead and do what they wanted to do in the first place.
