This thread will go down in BG history
Nobody likes checking threads for updates based on the topic, only to find someone's personal vendetta campaign leaking out like a pair of shitty Huggies. Tons of protests and other associated actions happening around the nation lately that I know I have probably missed. It's disrespectful to treat news threads as a place to demonstrate one's disinterest and actively derail at every opportunity. /2cents
Oh the ironing. I would love to get legit updates on protests across the nation sprouted from the Ferguson incident, based on the disproportionate use of police on minorities. Brown itself is a poor excuse no matter how many buildings they burn, but cases like Eric Garner deserve a valid reevaluation of indicting police officers.
Yet everytime I click this thread when it's bumped by a certain someone promoting their version of "the man" like it's some fucking 80-90's cliche' I wonder why bother.
Ignoring PDs that have very obvious problems with corruption, racism, and a history of violating the constitution and our human rights is your prerogative. I don't spin anything here, I have the right to add color commentary just as anyone else who posts news articles. Odd, how the latest 3 or 4 articles I have posted that deal with those very issues on this forum has been met with no rebuttal.
The LE and P.I.C. system is broken. I understand you need to defend your livelihood, but don't use my opinions as scapegoat to excuse the rampant lawlessness.
That was more of a jab towards the recent FBI and DEA spying stories. Those aren't opinion pieces at all.
I'm not sure if I posted here about the alternative protest called #BlackBrunch, where protestors occupy diners and coffee shops in affluent areas, which are generally cutoff from their surroundings. Inside, they sit and stand in these close-quarters while they read off about 20-30 names of unarmed black deaths and sing the 'Justice for Mike Brown' hymn. Most of these demonstrations are met with majority support and the typical handful of faces with apathy/disgust. I wish I could be a part of these actions, as I have done some similar work where I promoted community radio on my own time. (obviously not through song, but I would sit next to random folk and explain the importance of community radio and what they are missing by listening to Viacomm trash lol)

Last night we spread the word that #BlackLivesMatter in the Castro district, SF. We uplifted the name of Queer/Trans Black folks murdered.
Some creative use of stickers to call awareness to John Crawford's injustice
For MLK Day, MTV will be in black-and-white all day and will feature discussions on race. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/64968
For today, Spotify has made a playlist of King's speeches. Check it out. http://open.spotify.com/user/spotify...292c75YavnV8VI …
That sticker if I could get a few hundred is something I'd put all over targets / walmart etc
They should stick them on the ones that look realistic instead of the toys that don't look like guns, but that's just me.
Less stickering of the nerf guns and more stickering of airshit which can look realistic from a few feet away the moment you take off the orange tip.
You folks realize it's not an actual warning right?
Sticker of a black guy with hashtags slathered all over it? Sounds legit to me.
Hell I'm half tempted to scan the image and spray it on an ammo can.
Yeah... waking up to this shit on my feed is no bueno.

Haven't heard any follow-up on that last post about someone killed in STL, but there is a new developing story now about the interim mayor of Kinloch, MO being beaten-up and arrested by officers after calling in a burglary near her home...
(it appears that a 10 year old wrote the complaint tickets)

Here is some more backstory on the interim mayor Theda Wilson and her unwelcomed history with the police and the local government:
Interim Kinloch mayor scared of city she’s leading - http://www.kmov.com/news/local/nteri...236671921.html
Kinloch mayor back in office after ouster - http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/m...88d855bb8.html
But did she actually resist arrest and assault three police officers?
