So what? So they deserve brutality? Cops deal appropriately with uncooperative individuals all the time, it's kind of their job. Failing to do so is failing at their job.

And they fail and reap the consequences of their choice. As do the civilians.

Either way, I don't care what happens to the cops or the insolent people. I think the majority of the issues are on the cops and training/etc but I'm not going to null out peoples responsibilities when dealing with police.

The problem is that "cooperating" has become defined as complete and utter deference to their authoritah. Citizens shouldn't be combative with law enforcement, but they absolutely shouldn't be submissive when their rights are being trampled.

You mean the guy who was shot outside the 7-11 (or something like that) was cooperating when the cops told him multiple times to stop walking away and to put his hands in the air? Yeah totes cooperating lol.

Because reaching into your pants is totally the proper thing to do when a cop says "hands in the air". Theres a reason cops tell you to put your hands in the air: unless you're a wizard, you arent concealing a weapon 7 feet in the air. Whereas, its quite possible to conceal a weapon in your pants.

Run that same guy with the same car and the same concealed carry through a few dozen different cities in different states and see how many times it turns out as "coolbro, here's your warning" and I'll be more interested in his story.

Ya know, years ago I read a post here with some behavior tips & ideas when pulled over. The goal was more "how to get a warning not a ticket" than "fuck, please let me survive this encounter" because this was around 2007.

Note that getting either a warning or a ticket are both included in various ways to survive this moment. Just respect the Leo and go on.. or aspire to YouTube martyrdom.

I'm no cop apologist, so don't bother with that. PoC, homeless, and challenged neighborhoods are notably different. My anecdotes as a speeding white man in western and Midwestern states don't specifically apply obviously. The white teenager in Michigan (?) who couldn't just take a ticket and go home is more the setting I'm talking about.

Also they have a suspect in custody for those arson fires in ferguson. It's a black man in his 30s. Damn no race war today. There's still hope of a white cop arrested him though. I'm sad that this is closer to reality than satire...
