In a situation like this, smoke is used to mask movement. There were no cops moving with it so it was definitely gas. Dunno where the smoke thing came from.

The shell casing on the lower right is a standard M320 shell. It's a single shot grenade launcher that can launch Tear Gas rounds, Smoke Rounds, Incendiary Rounds, or Explosive. Can't tell what style it is from the side.

The higher one is a Combined Tactical Systems (CTS) Smoke/CS round used in a 40mm canister shot launcher. It's a riot control grenade that disperses smoke and CS gas (tear gas).

Twitter is saying 1 person has been shot it the neck and another 2 or so in the stomach. No way to confirm atm because the press is still penned up. If anyone leaves the group that Vice is in, they will be arrested.
